Beautiful, Rare Frankoma Faux Bois/Log Prairie Green Vase/Planter - Ada Clay
Here for your collecting pleasure we are offering a beautiful and very rare Frankoma faux bois log shaped vase/planter. This lovely piece is a rare form of early Frankoma in Ada clay. Which places the date of its manufacture prior to 1954, most likely from some time between 1936 to 1938. It is cylindrical in shape with gracefully curving sides, hand cut top opening, Prairie Green glaze with great color distribution on this flawless piece, and excellent hand applied faux bois woodgrained log decoration. Frankoma colors reflect the colors of the Oklahoma prairie wherein they were manufactured: greens. Tans and sand. For example, their green is not the‘matte green’ of other art pottery popular at the time as found in Teco, Van Briggle, Roseville, or Marblehead wares, but is a characteristic variegated olive green closer to the color of prairie ... moregrass. And is exclusive to Frankoma. Manufactured by a process distinctive of Frankoma. The clay body and colored glaze are fused and fired at the maturing point of the clay; thereafter, the clay body tempers as it cools. The vase/planter has four rectangular pad feet and smooth ends. The vase/planter is not signed. But is unmistakably Frankoma; in fact, a signature would mar the clean, crisp design of this piece. This vase/planter measures 10 1/4” in length, approximately 2 5/8” in diameter, and about 2 7/8” in height. Its condition is excellent with no signs of wear, scratches, cracks, or chips that I can find anywhere. There are several glaze pops, which is a characteristic peculiarity that occurs while the glazed vase was being fired in the kiln and is not considered a flaw. There is some lime deposit inside the upper lip of the vase which does not show at the top, but can be felt in the interior lip; this is easily removed with some Lemi-Shine, which I will leave to the new owner. This Frankoma piece is quite rare; I have dealt with many Frankoma pieces over the years but have never seen another like this one. This vase/planter has been mostly in storage since it was pu

Antique Vintage Textile Crochet Doily Remnant Pieces Log Cabin Pattern
Up for auction is an antique vintage textile embroidery table cover square with tassels recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition and features nine squares with large yarn tassels at each end. It features just about all colors surrounded by a black border. I beleive it was probably a doily. This square measures approximately 13 1/2" x 13 1/2" in size, without the tassels. It is much in the manner of a log cabin quilt pattern. Great for reuse and any sewing project. Young Men's Mutual Improvement Association(YMMIA) This very rare 1932 LDS scouting manual contains instructions and guidelines for running the Vanguard scouting program in the LDS Church. There are 287 pages. This manual for the Vanguard program came out each year until the program was discontinued and the LDS Church began using the BSA Explorer program. This is considered Log Number two in an annual series of the Vanguard program. This manual includes detailed instruction on various scouting skills. Indian lore and crafts, horsemanship, radio, weather, as well as how the program should be run. In 1932 the Olympics were held in Los Angeles and there is a general focus on Olympics in this Vanguard Log manual on competition and archery as a competing event. Vintage Hit Miss Engine 1925 Antique Circle Saw Log wood
Up for auction. A Vintage Antique Hit Miss Engine Circle saw has 23 inch fly wheel, 5 inch x 6 inch belt pulley, 20 inch cutting blade, 36 inches high, 35 inches wide, 54 inches long. Wood rack is mostly complete and can be used as a pattern to make a new one. Saw has always been garage kept until this past few months it was oiled at put out side. Weight is about 175 lbs. The saw was originally ordered out of the Sears catalog back in 1925 with the 3HP McCormick Deering Engine that is already sold. Saw also comes with original drive belt not shown in the pictures. Belt is 5 inches wide and allows a hit miss engine to sit about 8 feet from the saw, belt is also in good condition. Very Old Hand Pieced Sewn Log Cabin Blocks Quilt Top This is very very old. From an estate, not sure of its exact age. This is a great old scrap quilt. Tons of different fabrics. Excellent placement of lights and darks for overall effect! I know there are some civil war era fabrics in it. The outside blue borders have been machine sewed on. Everything else is hand sewn. This is the top only. I don't know if it was ever quilted. There are some gorgeous cheddar. Shirting. Etc in there. There are 5 blocks that have holes. Probably from moths, I have added them and am pointing to the damage in each one, so please look carefully. Those are the last 5 pictures. The other block pictures are just fabrics that are really neat! I've added one picture of the back. So you can enlarge it to see the stitching, it's the last photo. Here's a great set of commemorative Bicentennial Log Cabin Syrup Advertising bottles. They are still in the original box which has a great graphic of the images on the bottles inside. There is a cardboard insert which was originally glued to the inside of the top which displays the series title Portraits of America Collector's Flasks. It also has four stickers with different flavors that it looks like you can pull off and attach as paper labels to the individual bottles. There is also a Promo or Promotional advertisement sheet which shows it to be what will run in the magazines Woman's Day. Good Housekeeping and Better Homes and Gardens to advertise the series. The bottles themselves are in excellent, unused condition. Each is embossed on the bottom with the Log Cabin Syrup logo and Anchor Hocking glass manufacturing mark. They ... moreall stand 8-1/2" tall and have a historically significant scene embossed on them. On of the clear ones has Benjamin Franklin, inventor, Ambassador to France, and signer of the Declaration of Independence from the time period of the American Revolution. One has a profile of a very proud looking Native American or Indian warrior. It is amber or brown color. The other clear one shows the Statue of Liberty from New York City Harbor and reads: Give Us Your Tired, Your Poor, Your Huddled Masses Yearning to Breathe Free. The final amber one has a depiction of Mount Rushmore on it with the Presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. We're just getting back started on Ebay. This yummy Log Cabin maple syrup ad comes from the July. 1952 issue of Woman's Day magazine and shows syrup being poured over ice cream as an idea for a summer dessert. The ice cream illustration is nicely done, very appealing. Ad measures 11 inches high by 5/14 inches wide. WW2 B-17 HERO Bomber Pilots Flight Log Book 84th Bomber Squadron - SKINNY
Here's an amazing piece of WWII aviation history. The flight log of B17 pilot Ivan Walker. He was a 21 year-old co-pilot until his B17"Skinny" was hit by enemy anti-aircraft fire. He was thrust into the pilots role when his pilot was gravely injured. Walker limped"Skinny" home safely saving his crew to fly another day as Walker in the Pilots seat. This act of heorism is doccumented in this flight log. This flight log covers his training in 1943 thru his diployment overseas in July of 1944. The log has entries for bombing runs to Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, Bremen, Cologne and many other German targets. The following is an excerpt from the Clinton County Leader Newspaper in 2011 as they interviewed the gunner on Ivan Walker's B17 and tells an amazing story of heorism by the young 21 year-old Ivan Walker. The pilot ... moreof the B-17 laid in the catwalk. Blood springing from his left eye. German anti-aircraft fire had shattered the left-side window and blew the shards inward. Thousands of feet in the air, a fierce wind poured through the newly-torn hole while members of the crew administer first aid to the pilot, Lt. Bob Maag. That same blast embedded eight objects in the leg of George Byczlowski. The plane’s engineer. The co-pilot is a young, inexperienced kid named Ivan Walker. He takes control of the B-17. While flak from the anti-aircraft fire rocks the plane in every direction. Welcome to August 9. 1944– Gene Grady’s 18th mission as a B- 17 waist gunner in the 94th bombing group. He had landed in England two months before and was quickly thrown into a pattern of sleep. Prep, fly and repeat. He and his crewmates had logged 116 hours of flight-time that July alone. Just hours before the mission. Crews waited on the ground for an“all-go” they were certain would never come. Dense fog filled the air and offered little visibility at take off. Icing and turbulence were expected over Germany, while the return forecast called for rain and more fog. The mission was finally launched after two delays.
