Antique Log Cabin Childrens Quilt & Pillow Very Old Primitive Dark 1900s
This quilt is very old. Purchased from an old estate approximately 25 years ago and the elderly folks were in their 80's that had passed away. The quilt is a log cabin style and the photo's showing the moth holes are taken in close up range so not really as large as they seem but wanted to show you the damage so you were aware that it was there. I will lint brush these before they ship. They do have a musty odor from old home. They had it when I purchased and still have it. They have been in a trunk. The quilt measures 66" long x 38 1/2" wide and comes with a very old tattered crows stitched baby pillow.Yellowed with age. The pillow is 9 1/2" X 6" Wide. You are purchasing a No Return Item so please know these are very old items. Flawed and well aged. Vintage log cabin quilt from the 50's made with every scrap on hand it looks like. Novelty cotton prints. Flannels, corduroys. Tweeds, and an occasional velvet thrown in. The back is a gray flannel fabric. Makes for a fun and charming quilt! Measures 78" X 68" This one looks as if it was never used. Or used gently. No tears, no holes and no stains. It is in mint vintage condition. Please keep in mind that these are vintage and antique quilts. So there may be some small loose seams and some age related stains. Taffrail Log Rotor from the MacGregor Expedition Schooner
I recently attended an auction which contained a number of items from the estate of Lt. Cmdr Clifford MacGregor. He commanded the privately funded"MacGregor Artic Expediton" from July 1st 1937 to Oct. 3rd. 1938. This expedition sailed in the 3 masted schooner, the"Gen. A.W. Greely" One can read about the entire expedition on Wikipedia. I was fortunate to obtain several items which were part of his estate. I will enclose several sheets from the auctioneer's catalog which shows a partial listing of items. This item is a taffrail rotor which is towed from the rear of a sailing vessel to determine the speed. The rotor itself is solid brass, very heavy, about 14" long, and the seized rope and brass end is an additional 30" It has tarnish as one would expect, but nothing harmful. WOODLANDS BEADED FLAT BAG C. 1850 - RARE WHIRLING LOG MOTIF
Brilliant colors and elaborate design are the hallmarks of this c. 1850 beaded flat bag. All the great old bead colors in micro are present: greasy yellow and pumpkin. Chalk whites, apple green and bottle green, Crow pink, amber, red white hearts, robin’s egg blue, navy, opal. The central motif is an opulent eight petal flower filled with elaborate chain beading and row after row of brilliant color. The whirling log symbol along the top of the bag is set apart by chalk white line beading in a“faux” flap. There are swirls of beads in different colors surrounding the central floral and stockade beading around the edge. Additional edge beading is made up of chalk white beads rather than the usual material. The body of the bag is black velvet and the black velvet handle is original. There is some bead loss clearly indicated in the photos which ... morewere taken with flash and in natural light. The lining is black silk. It is a spectacular piece of Native American bead work executed by a highly skilled Native American woman. Up for auction is an antique receipt log book. All full. No blank pages. From 1880s. Has a number 10 on the bottom of the book. Binding is in okay shape. Has wear. Has a few loose receipts from the early 1900s in the back. Very cool. Bought from an antique shop and salvage shop in New Bedford, MA a very, historic city. Fun to look through. This is by Sandi Dyer. A western artist from Oklahoma. Her images are most often anything to do with Will Rogers and images of Oklahoma, especially the local areas around here. I actually live in Oologah Oklahoma which is the birthplace of Will Rogers. I purchased this directly from the family many years ago, I was going to frame it but never got around to it. Sandi passed away a few years ago. This is a print that is entitled"The Lodge" by Sandi Dyer. It has a facsimilie signature and the date'94. The paper is glossy, also a bit yellowed, not stark white as shown. Print all black and white with coloring to the hanging baskets on front porch. Vintage Hand Made Whirling Log Pinwheel Good Luck Feedsack Patchwork Quilt For your consideration is a vintage hand made whirling log pinwheel good luck feedsack patchwork quilt. This item measures 79 inches by 81 inches. It is in good condition though there are a few small holes. They probably wouldn't be too hard to repair if you were handy with this sort of thing. There are a few light spots on the back of the quilt and a couple repairs on the back, these areas are all shown in the pictures. I have not washed this quilt though I think it probably could be washed on gentle cycle if you wanted to. This is a beautiful old quilt, it would be a great addition to your home. Please note: All of my items are from estate and or yard sales or thrift stores and I do not know their past history of being around pets or smoke.
