You're looking at 3/4 of a fab and funky and happy and folky Log Cabin"Barn Raising" quilt top(still with foundation on back side) that is an unusual size. 42" x 75" and was probably intended as a wall hanging or on back of couch or at foot of bed to brighten up the room, or for a day bed, miraculously still crisp and clean and dating to the 1940's. By hand. Lots of reds, lots of feed sack material, please note the feed sack material w/writing on it in last pic. I can't find even one flaw or bit of dirt or damage. In one of the pics is a bit of fringe peeking out from a throw underneath. From the"Dark Corners" area of Greenville County, S.C. where the moonshiners hung out until about the 1950's when revenue agents put an end to most of the stills. Perhaps the maker had been sipping a bit of home ... morebrew, for this is beautifully katiwampus in a couple of areas, all adding to the charm of this delightful piece of folk art from the American South. Antique quilt top Shadow and Light Log Cabin Lancaster Blue
In great condition. I didn't find any bad fabric or tears or holes, just a couple of tiny brown spots. Colors are bright and fabric is strong. Fabrics from the 1890's or earlier and the Lancaster blues are really outstanding. Machine pieced. Measures 82" by 83" I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. This is an older piece and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Save on combined shipping. SALE! Very Old Hand Pieced Sewn Log Cabin Blocks Quilt Top This is very very old. From an estate, not sure of its exact age. This is a great old scrap quilt. Tons of different fabrics. Excellent placement of lights and darks for overall effect! I know there are some civil war era fabrics in it. The outside blue borders have been machine sewed on. Everything else is hand sewn. This is the top only. I don't know if it was ever quilted. There are some gorgeous cheddars. Shirtings, etc in there. There are 5 blocks that have holes. Probably from moths, I have added them and am pointing to the damage in each one, so please look carefully. Those are the last 5 pictures. The Bar measures 8' in length. 42" in height and 20" deep, with the Back-Bar measuring 6' in length, 76" high and 14" deep and the High-Back Bar Stools standing 44" tall and 15" wide/deep. LUTTED'S S. P. COUGH DROPS This auction is for a lovely vintage figural LOG CABIN piece known as'LUTTED'S S. P. COUGH DROPS" Which is made out of press patterned glass in a lovely emerald green color! This beautiful vintage heavy green glass container was used as a drug store display. The glass is very detailed with the raised glass on all sides that clearly show this is a log cabin structure. The top fits very nicely on the base and has a look of roof shingles. Inside the shingles are raised letters with the LUTTED'S S. P. Cough Drops advertisement. This covered cabin has 3 windows and a door. There are side handles and the structural base is supported by glass legs. The roofline lid is straight on the center chimney line and lifts off with ease. The interior is equally interesting with a pattern reminiscent of a hardwood ... morefloor or planked. It measures 6 1/4" inches tall. 8 1/2" inches long and 4 1/2" inches wide. The true original was considered quite the interesting piece of its time. The pattern is known today as Log Cabin but was originally called Pattern#78. It was made by Central Glass Company of Wheeling. West Virginia which introduced the pattern in 1875. James Lutted of Buffalo. New York was a leading candy maker and wholesaler of retail display cases and candy jars. The"J.L. cough drop was one of the biggest sellers and was displayed in a log cabin jar embossed with the company name, Lutted's S. P. Cough Drops. The piece is sought after by both collectors of early country store advertising and figural glass. Originals are almost always clear; colors of vaseline, blue and amber are known but are very rare. In clear, a jar in good condition usually sells for $400-450. This piece is a reproduction. How to differentiate a true item from reproduction? Here are the main differences between new and old.
