Up for bids a Incomplete J.H. Bunnell No. 4 D. D. Home Medical Apparatus. Quack Device This item is housed in a beautiful mitered and hinged oak wooden box. That was sold between the late 1890's and the early 1900's. This device may have been known as a Galvanic Stimulator. The box does not have any heavy marring but does show signs of use and mishandling. There are basic directions for the use of the device on the top inside lid. The outside box measures approximately 8 3/4" wide. 5 1/2" deep and 4 1/2" high. The bottom covering was removed. At some point, to reveal the wiring. The electrical apparatus appearers to be complete. Including the miniature Ruhmkorff coil, except for the dry cell battery. I do not know if this device would work. Never mind treat any ailments. Missing are the finger or hand electrodes. 2 ... moresponge electrodes, wiring, the dry cell battery, 2 insulating wood handles. And the Electropathic Guide Pamphlet. I have seen images of the Electropathic Guide Pamphlet and it boasted of over 100 treatments with this device. The Quack Medical Device business was in full swing in the 1890's and there were many variations on the theme. The J.H. Bunnell company. Which was famous for their telegraph instruments, also dabbled in other areas involving electricity. The comb and other spon ge is missing. This 3 piece Quack electric medical device was supposed to be used to reli eve all kinds of ailments and pain. Headaches. Stiff joints. Skin, dandruff. Weak heart, and physical development, sexual"weakness, are all symptoms th at can be treated with this old school device. It does work. Batteries were installed and tested. Bu t be careful. As it can give you a jolt if you don't slowly raise the level of output. All pieces included are in good condition. The elec-treat is about 11" long by 1 3/4" circumference. The entire front plate is BRASS and each of the school rooms or offices is stamped in the brass—this would not have been a cheap item at the time. By Robert Amory, A.M. M.D. Published in New York by William Wood and Company in 1886. FIRST EDITION. 307 pages. A very early work on the use of electrolysis in the treatment of certain conditions. Namely goiter and hair removal. While some of the uses of electricity in here are still used today, namely for the permanent removal of hair, others such as using them to remove cancers, cysts, etc. are suspect. Electrical Lineman Gloves & Sleeves
I have 3 different items that all go together to make a complete set of Electrical Safety Lineman Equipment. A pair of dark yellowish arm sleeves. 1 left& 1 right, which are a Type 1/Class 2 sleeve made by White Rubber Corp; A pair of black gloves. 1 right& 1 left, which are a Type 1/Class 2. Size 10 1/2 gloves that has tested and passed up to 20.000 volts; Also includes an outer pair of gloves that are yellow& orange in color. That can be worn over the black gloves. The sleeves and black gloves are in good condition and don't have any tears or holes in them. But do have some wear from previous use of them. I found 1 on internet used priced at $900 listed as coax crimper another website had New crimpers like this one listed between $1500 and $3000. one listing said these were still used in Aerospace industry.
