Antique Vintage ILCO 'Universal' Door Closer for Parts or Repair
Here is an old ILCO door closer that was removed from a home that was built in the 1920's. Though I'm not sure of the actual age of the closer. There is barely any resistance in the closer arm and there appeared to be a leak somewhere on it when removed(there was a bit of oil on the underside) The body and arm are in nice cosmetic shape as is the label. The original mounting screws are included. Dimensions: valve body is approx. 6" wide X 4 1/2" tall-projects approx. 3 1/2" off of mounting surface-mounting plate is 4" X 1 3/8" mounting hole pattern is 3 1/4" X 1 1/8" Thanks for looking. The model number is~~006B~~and the model name is Zephyr. They do not make these storm door plunger's like they used to. This plunger cylinder itself weighs 1 pound and 5 ounces. It is made of steel and painted with an enamel paint and then clear coated. This closer is factory fresh and it never has been used. The bag of screws are still stapled. My 7th picture shows some caked on grease from the factory. I will clean this off before this auction is over. Newell started making door closer's in the late 1940's. My guess is that this plunger is from the mid 1950's. It is definitely pre 1964 as there is no zip code on the box.
