I have replaced the original can cap with a brand new JJ part, which may make it easier to put a 10" speaker in there as it is shorter. I did have to make the hole in the chassis slightly bigger but it does not affect anything. Yes, I do know what I'm doing, I am an IPC certified soldering technician, and I've been working on and rebuilding tube amps for years! The inside of the chassis is stamped in ink NOV 9 1973. It still has the original Fender/Oxford 8" speaker that has been repaired a few times but still works, I would plan on getting a new speaker eventually. The transformers are guaranteed, but will need the typical, necessary and required updating/restoration and possible repair. It has been in climate controlled environment as part of a static Mcintosh collection. The amp is in nice original condition, not sure of the proper placement of the tubes, etc. There are 3 small wires in the center of the front octal tube socket that have been cut-not sure of their function, see picture. The power supply says Model P-50B, Silver Springs Maryland and has the tube chart. The output section does not have the tube chart and I am not sure where the tubes are suppose to be placed. It does have a unique 11 pin transformer that uses a single 12ax7 tube. The transformer housing is split, ... morebut held together with wire ties. The other transformer also uses a single 12ax7, but is the normal octal socket. There are 2 5u4s, 2 6J5s, 2 6L6Gs, 2 12ax7s, bias control with a split housing that is held together with wire ties, a delay/relay type tube, umbilical cord that connects the 2 chassis is included. It is in very nice condition, no serious nicks, dings or scratches. It does have some tape glue on the front that can be removed. This amp is extremely rare, Mcintosh's first production amplifier. It has the incomparable build quality, design, attention to detail, parts quality and craftsmanship that only vintage Mcintosh components can offer. I have what appears to be a homemade tube amp power supply. The tubes all test good on my AI 257 tester- but I have not plugged it in or turned it on so.
