This works with issues. It will play most audio and computer recorded cds. But has trouble with some commercial cds. Sometimes you get the error message no disc. The recorder will record as long as you are using audio cdr's. In the record process it doesn't allow to mark the tracks as you record. Also it won't alloy you to finalize discs after recording. I have a Pioneer Cd recorder I was using for that. I do not have the remote, so I'm not sure if you need it for these functions. Consider this a semi working parts or repair unit. If you are patient with it will work as described. I bought it with the intention of taking some of the pressure off the Pioneer cdr that I have. It worked great for that purpose.
