A full day trip on the "Land of the Giants" section of the Missouri River. This trip meets at the Gates of the Mountains marina 20 miles south of Helena Montana on upper Holter Lake. ... moreThe guide/USCG licensed captain will meet you at the marina on upper Holter Lake where you will launch a custom jet boat and motor roughly 15 minutes across the lake to the Missouri River. The Boat is a 16 foot G3 skiff powered by a 30hp Yamaha outboard jet. The skiff is equiped with oars, casting braces and seating, which allow it to function much like a drift boat. The fishing is float style fishing with the guide rowing down the river as anglers cast flies from the boat. The motor is used to navigate across the lake and to the various streches of the river for floating. The guide will provide all the flies and tackle that you need for the day. All you really need to bring is a Montana Fishing license, appropriate clothing and sunglasses for eye protection. Floats are typically around 7 hours of floating but can vary depending on the preference of the customer. All of the fishing is usually done from the boat, which makes wearing waders optional and not at all nessesary. At mid day you will take a break on the bank and enjoy lunch provided by your guide. At the Land of the Giants, we target numbers of large trout with nymphs, streamers and ocassionally dry flies. This river will typically will fish well from mid April through June and again from September through October. Trout typically range from 16-24 inches with fish over 24 inches possible. Fish in the 18-21 inch range are normal and the bigger fish of the day typically range from 22-25 inches. The river flows through a steep scenic canyon with beautiful cliffs above. Sightings of eagles, deer and mountain goats high on the cliffs are frequent. This is a truly amazing trip that frequently produces big numbers of large rainbow trout with an occasional brown trout.

The biggest and baddest fish in the Missouri live in this section. Many of our clients will fish multiple days here and stay in Helena for the duration of their trip.

The Big Blackfoot River is a gravel bottom, boulder-strewn “Freestone” river running from the Continental Divide near Lincoln, down thru the Blackfoot Valley where it joins the Clark ... moreFork River at Bonner, Montana. The fishing is amazing, with large hatches of Salmon Flies, Caddis, Mayflies, and Golden Stones. Our guides know this river well and have the experience to help you get fish on your line! Even beginners can find success and hook aggressive trout that'll put up a real fight.

Most of our fishing trips take place from a raft using big dry flies on a short line in fast, broken, gin-clear water filled with Rainbows, Browns, and the huge Bull Trout, better known as Dolly Varden.

Experienced anglers will apprediate The “Mighty Missouri.” Well develped skills of stealth and accurate casts are required to catch the large, cautious rainbows and browns. Wade fishing ... moreis great on the Missouri, with abundant hatches of BWOs, Caddis, PMDs, Tricos match-the-hatch dry-flies that compete with thousands of the real bugs, and a drag free drift are required to catch the huge, wary and finicky Rainbows and Browns rising to Caddis, BWO’s, PMD’s, Trico’s and more. The Missouri river can be one of the finest in Montana for experienced wade fishermen. But float trips can also be good when there are no fish rising.

We fish the Missouri from Holter Dam to Cascade, a 30-mile stretch of river designated a “Blue Ribbon” tail water fishery. Our guides know this section well and can help you hook an awesome catch.

This scenic, gin-clear river runs through the heart of the Bob Marshall Wilderness for most of its length. To get to the river, horses and mules carry us along with our boats and gear ... more20-26 miles by trail. The float trip takes place over the course of 5 days and 50 miles.

Anglers will encounter Westslope Cutthroats and huge Bull Trout in addition to several other species. There few places in the entire lower 48 where we may fish for these monsters. This trip is a rugged adventure for those looking to enjoy the wilderness and some great fishing!

There are a very limited number of launch dates for this trip. We try to accomodate "last minute" trips, but reservations are recommended 30-60 days in advance.

This is the most unique guided fishing trip that we offer....it is crazy stupid fishing! So the way this trip works is I put my jet boat (which is set up like a drift boat with oars ... moreand anchor systems) into upper Holter Lake which is outside of Helena, Montana then motor across the lake and up the Missouri River until I get to Hauser Dam, then we float down and fish for the largest trout concentrated higher than anywhere I have ever seen. The average fish is in the 20 inch range and fights like crazy. There is no other way to access this stretch with a boat other than motoring up in a jet boat which makes it not the easiest place to get to. The fish live in Holter Lake most of the time and then migrate upstream to spawn in the spring and in the fall. Like I said, the best way to describe this is "Stupid Crazy Fishing"
