Vintage Machinist V-Block Clamps, Clamping Step Blocks, and Holdowns
You are bidding on lot of various work holding. Clamping, and inspection tools. First up we have 2 double sided V-Block blocks with hold down bars. They measure 2-1/8x1-7/8x1-3/4" and 1-3/4x1-7/8x1-13/16" the smaller of the 2 has a piece broken at one of the slots(please see pictures) other than that still operate as intended. There are 2 small"L" brackets that appeared to be used as a hold down as well, they measure 1-15/16x3/4x3/16" Lastly there are a total of 7 stepped hold down clamps 3 of them are from the Tietzmann Eng Co. No.2& No. 1X. 2 of which are 1-3/4x1-1/8x15/16" the single measures 1x3/4x15/16" There are also 2 sets(4 total) of Northwestern tool No.1s and they measure 1-1/16x3/4x15/16 Please note all clamps are 15/16" wide. 2 Machinist V Blocks, 8 Parallel Clamps, Clamping Block & BMP Drill Jig Bushing
This listing is for a lot of machinist tools. They are all used and have been in the bottom of my tool box for over 20 years. The parallel clamps are in fair to good condition. One has a crack in the jaw at the front screw. See the close up photo, and one needs one of the threads chased. There are Two 2.25" clamps, there are Four 4" Clamps, there is One 3.5" clamp marked Union Tool Co, and One 3" clamp marked#161 C LS Starrett. Only 2 of the clamps have maker's marks. They all work and would be useful if you need something clamped. The 2 V-Blocks had a bit of surface rust that I cleaned off and they are quite useable as they are. They are 1.5" wide by 2.375" wide and 1.935" tall. The clamp block is in nice shape and quite useable as is. It is 5" long, 2.25" wide, and 1.625" tall. I copied Starrett's design so that I could just buy their clamps and get to work. I also added what I believe to be improvements to the design. Both V-blocks are made from tool steel. Hardened, stabilized and precision MATCH ground to within.0002 all over. Both of the blocks have countersunk holes for 1/4-inch hold-down screws through the middle of the V. Both blocks have 10-32 tapped holes in the top face for the auxiliary clamp you see in the pictures. All 3 clamps are included in the auction) One of the blocks features 0.125 diameter holes JIG GROUND into the center of the V to use as stop points. This is a Starrett No.278 V-Block Set with Clamps. 1" Diameter Capacity, Numbered Matched Pair, Hardened and ground, 1-1/4" Square, 1-5/8" in Length. The V's are ground central, parallel and square to the ends and sides. The block has a tapped hole through the side so that it may be attached to an angle plate by a 1/4-20 thread. Used in very good condition, shows light wear, and light staining, no box. One of the Clamp screw knurled head has a grind mark on it, see last picture. EDP No.51312. Made in USA.
