Vintage Set of Universal Magnetic Parallel and V Blocks Manufactured by George Scherr Company. New York, NY This is a beautiful vintage set of magnetic parallel and V blocks. The blocks are in outstanding condition with very little(if any) sign of use. The box is in very good condition for its age with normal surface wear. It is lined with green felt; the hinges and locking mechanism are all in place and work well. Approximate dimensions: Parallel blocks = 3 7/8" x 1" x 1 3/4" V blocks = 2 1/4" x 1 3/4" x 2" Box = 8 3/4 x 3 1/4" x 2 1/2" I estimate this set is from early to mid 1900s. I inherited them from my father who had an extensive 1920s- 1950s shop filled with many great machinist and and other types of tools. Precision Aluminum Magnetic Transfer V-Blocks Parallel Toolmaker Made Machinist This listing is for a set of 3 aluminum blocks with steel pins for use on a magnetic chuck to transfer magnetism to a steel work piece. These blocks were made by a journeyman tool maker and the quality is superb as you can see in the photos. There are 2 v-blocks and one parallel block. The 45 degree block measures 3 inches wide by 3-3/4 inches long and 2-1/2 inches high. It has hardened and ground steel plates on the end and one side. The 30 degree block measures 3-1/8 inches wide by 4-1/8 inches long and 1-1/2 inches high. It also has hardened and ground steel plates on the end and one side. The parallel measures 1-3/16 inches wide by 3-1/8 inches long and 1/2 inch thick and has a 3/8 inch thru hole in the center. 3 magnetic transfer blocks(one V block and 2 small rectangle blocks) From the now closed Camillus Cutlery factory. V block- marked Anton V438 and has nicks. Gouges and a pair of machine damaged spots.The one large machine damaged area in V will just hang a fingernail so maybe.010 deep. The 2 smaller machine damaged marks are more like.001 deep. The marks on side are shallow and will not hang a nail. A couple gouges on top outside corner will. There is a small dent on corner to right of Anton marking which was cleaned up w/no cracks. Size- 4.386 long. 3.000" wide, 2.241 tall. Bars- I assume bars are Anton but since there are no marks I cannot guarantee brand. Note- one has de-lamination on one corner.
