But there was no'jogging' A quick peek under the hood showed that the special amber colored rubber drive coupling was now dark brown and had broken off. We were able to order more of this exact hose and repaired it. We have a few more of these drive link hoses if your LECTROJOG needs on too. This part works perfect, is made from the correct type of rubber(normal rubber hose is not correctly flexible) and ships for free. How to check yours. And change it: The bottom has an access cover. It slides off at least on our model. Inside you can see the eccentric jogger, using a large flat blade screwdriver, turn the 4 screws in the paper holder while holding the nuts inside. Then remove the jogger part. Now you can get to the access cover from underneth, carefully push the two detents inside ant pop the cover off. We were not able to pry it off from the outside and did not want to break it. We got it off okay this way. Now you can remove the motor end clamp, and work off what is left of the link on the motor end. We found it easier to put the link on the jogger part first, tighten that clamp, then do the other end. Remember to put the other clamp over the hose before you put it on the motor. Wetting the shaft with water might help it slide, we were able to get it on dry. Reinstall the jogger once you get the link hose far enough onto the shaft. We knew it was okay when the link hose, at rest with no tension, had the jogger correctly lined up with the mounting screws. Put it back together and you are all done. You might want to add some more oil to the two capped oilers on the jogger as it is real easy at this time. A fine old piece of American craftsmanship. This machine is heavy mostly cast iron. It has ornate handpainted detail and pinstriping. The front access cover is beveled glass. The drive system on this machine is gear driven. The motor looks like it has been replaced I suspect it was many years ago though. This machine works and creates small a oddly shape staple. I'm not certain how it was used to put together the magazines and books but when you plug it in and hit the trip it makes a staple. This is a wonderful example of a time when pride in craftsmanship was truly job#1 and not just a saying. The exact date is unknown to me. I could not find a date but it is definitely early 20th century. This machine does have some surface rust on it as can be expected for a machine around one hundred years old.
