Because of health concerns, public‘tin-dipper’ shared water drinking was abolished in public places and on trains. A‘Health Kup’ was provided in dispensers such as this. The name‘Health Kup’ was later changed to‘Dixie Cup. This is an early dispenser that dispensed‘DIXIES. I believe there was originally a glass cone in which cups were stacked. Also. This is a small. Dixie Cup dispenser.I have had for several years.But never put it on display.in our museum area here at our small Technical Career College,in New Orleans. see last picture here in auction)It is in nice condition to average condition.In my opinion of rating it.I tried to take the pictures that would give a potential bidder a idea of the physical condition and appearance of this small Dixie Cup dispenser.The glass is in good shape with no cracks or clouding.Picture(6) shows a rear view of the metal base and where this dispenser would slide onto a small wall mount bracket.I do not have the bracket, and never did.If a individual has a creative design side to themselves.you could probably figure out how to make a bracket or attach this Dixie Cup dispenser to a home made device to hold it to the wall.I myself have had to make or ... morefabricate missing parts to many of the collectibles I have bought over a 10 year period. The rear part of the Dixie Cup dispenser that the wall mount bracket would slide onto is the rectangular shape portion lower half of picture(6) All the metal surfaces show a good amount of pitting type corrosion you find on aged chrome plated surfaces.If you look closely you will see the pitting/corrosion in pictures that show side views.Some of this corrosion effect can be removed by various methods for restoring metal surfaces, but I just did not have the time to do it. I am focused on several new displays for the school museum now. Nice Old Antique Cobalt Blue Bottle w Dispenser Cup Top, "John Wyeth & Bro"
Here's an interesting old or antique mid sized bottle of the mid 1800's we received recently. This one is a nice cobalt blue color and has quite a bit of embossed detailing. On the bottom it has a patent date type mark. Difficult to read but appears to have the date 1899 or similar. This bottle is marked"John Wyeth& Bro" The glass top is a dispenser cup and has some markings on the top, This cup holds one heaping desert spoon full" On the side of the cup and at the top of the bottle are embossed numbers. The user aligned these marks after use to remind themselves of a specific hour take the next dose. There is quite a bit of information available on the internet about this manufacturer and their history. The bottle is in nice shape, no chips or crack noted, and while clean in appearance and some bottle enthusiasts ... morewill probably want to do a little extra fine cleaning. The bottle stands about 6.25 inches tall with cap in place and is 2 inches by 2 inches square on the sides. That's about it. The pictures should be helpful to those having interest. We'll start this nice antique cobalt blue bottle low so enjoy the auction. We'll pack this carefully. When packed this will weigh about 1.5 lb so we'll use USPS Parcel Select service as the lowest cost postal alternative to the buyer. We have no packing or handling charge. This is an incredible original 5c Silver King Hot Nut vending machine from the 1940's. It is in perfect working condition and heater does work. As so many of these don't. Not sure if this was ever used due to its immaculate shape. All glass is in excellent condition and free of chips, cracks, etc. Decal on globe is original. Feet on bottom of base are original as well. The paint is also original which is rarely the case with any peanut machine used in general service. I normally leave the heater disconnected so it can be used for virtually any nuts, mints, candies, m&m's etc. I can hook the heater back up if buyer wishes as this is very easy to do. I do not have the keys but I have been told it wouldnt be hard to get them made. The lock that would latch to make you feed coins to get your cup is broken. We found this item about 12 years ago. When we started cleaning out this estate. As we were not sure what it was. We put it aside. I had always thought it was a chemist's beaker of some sort. We just learned it is a GLASS INSERT tube for a DIXIE-Vortex paper cup dispenser. These were found in restaurants. Dr.s offices, and waiting rooms all over the country at one time. Everything in this estate we have found basically has a time frame of 1880's-1950's. I would guess this piece to be from the 1940's or 1950's. This one is rather large. I am not sure if it once held the" cone" shaped cups or the regular cups. The piece is intact and would be perfect if you had the base and wanted to use/ display.
