Typically used with a pulley to snatch onto bales of hay and then once you pull a rope that's connected to the two inner eye-loopes, the bale of hay would drop. There are no breaks or cracks. Great Original Vintage C.F. Orvis Glass Minnow Trap with the Original Wire Bail Carrier. Made in Manchester VT. ~~ The front top is embossed C.F. Orvis Maker Manchester VT. I'm uncertain of exact year. But early 1900's. Measures 14" long x 8" wide x by 24" diameter. Has a metal screw on lid with a punched star symbol. And a wire bail carrier. I believe the trap was used some. But not much. No Cracks in the glass, no visible scratches, and very little signs of wear on the glass. There is a chip on the rim of the mouth where the lid screws on. Also, has a little wear and surface rust on the wire bail carrier. There has been no repairs, all parts are original.remarkable condition for its age. Great piece for a Vintage Fishing Gear Collection or Orvis Gear Collection. Thank you for looking!

This one is marked F.E. Meyers. Bro. Co. Ashland, O. and numbers H231 and H-233. It is a heavy cast iron/steel metal. And measures right at 34 1/2" to top of handle, and 19" wide. It has rust and corrosion. With most parts froze, so it needs cleaning and oiling. This would make a great addition to any collection. Or go with your barn trolley. This has not been cleaned.
