British, Brodie, MK 1, Mark 1, helmet, in very good condition, dating from 1916 to 1919. It is marked HS 123. Which is for the Hatfield Ltd. company, Sheffield, England. The number is for the batch lot of the steel, and the HS is for the company name. This helmet has the rubber doughnut, and is soft, as is the leather band at the top. The netting and black material of the lining are in good, pliable shape. Chinstrap and liner are in particularly good condition and appears as though it was lightly used. Pair Vintage Early Doughnut Biscuit Cutter with Hole Primitive Kitchen Metal Tin
Here is a pair of very early metal dough biscuit cutters. One has the center hole to make doughnuts and the other does not. It probably was a biscuit cutter. They are a matching set that I use to have as decorations in my kitchen. I bought these at an antique shop a few years back. They were labeled as being from the late 1800s. They are in pretty good condition for their age. The biscuit cutter has a broke handle but could be easily fixed if you can do soldering. Both handles have been fixed in the past by the looks. They measure about 2 3/4 inches(7.5cm) round and made of tin I believe. Both are still relatively round which is unusual for the age. Most I see have been bent and then had the bend removed. The doughnut hole one is not one easily found and to have a matching biscuit cutter just makes it that much more unusual. Doughnut Blob Top Moxie Nerve Food Bottle Icy Blue
Up for auction is a beautiful icy blue Moxie Nerve Food bottle from Lowell. Massachusetts with a doughnut type applied blob top. This is one of the earliest varieties of the Moxie bottles dating from the 1880s-1890s. The crudity of bottle manufacturing back then is clear in this example which exhibits bubbles, thick heavy glass, and a sloppily applied top. The glass is an attractive icy aqua color. Condition is very good with no cracks or chips, just minor case wear consisting of scratches and a flea bite or two. I will say that this bottle has been lightly oiled to improve appearance as there was slight hazing previously. However, the oil is hardly noticeable to the touch and the bottle is not greasy at all, just looks clean and beautiful. Moxies are great bottles, and this is a great example. Metal clasp and hinge appear original. The box is shaped like a large doughnut(donut) or torus. The outside of the box is hand decorated with"dragons chasing the sacred pearl" The ring shape conjures up the shape of a pearl or the bi. Usually seen carved in jade. In Asia. The dragon is revered as a divine mythical creature, a potent symbol of strength, good fortune and transformation, often portrayed chasing after a luminous pearl.
