Quadruple silver plating was the highest standard public grade. Bristol Plate Co is thought to be perhaps a trademark of the Poole Silver Co. the Poole Silver Company dates back to 1893. And was located in Taunton, MA. We could not track down the pattern name for this item, nor could we locate the approximate age, leading us to believe that this piece may be somewhat rare to find. Because of the design& style of this piece, however, we believe that it is from the late 1800s to early 1900s, but this is just our best guess. This beautiful silver basket has a very nice dark"patina" coloration) which is highly desirable among antique collectors. Which means that ... morethe darker patina gives the piece more value in the eyes of an antique collector. Though silver is beautiful when polished, many collectors prefer the that the patina to be left alone. Therefore, we are selling this item"as is" and we will allow you, the buyer, to decide whether or not you would like it polished. This gorgeous basket measures 11-7/8" long. 8" wide and is 2-1/2" to the rim. With the handle in the upright position, it measures approximately 9-1/4" to the top of the ornate handle. The bowl of the basket is ardorned with a delicate motif of open roses and scrolled leaves. The handle top shows a lovely daisy and leaf pattern that is topped with a center button. The handle is in wonderful operable condition and moves easily and will stay upright, and does squeak a little when raised, telling of its many years of use. There is one very small ding-less than a 16th of an inch- see photo eleven-upper right quadrant where the bowl rounds up to the rim) but other than this one small ding, there no other dents, dings or tears to the metal and no evidence of corrosion. This is a very good quality item. The decoration& piercing is excellent. Far superior than many of its type. I think the photos speak volumes. The condition is very good given its age(Victorian) better than you would expect. Probably made in Sheffield. There is some very light scratches to the bottom of the basket but you need to look close to see them. No rubbing I can find to the basket or decoration but a little light rubbing to the centre of the handle where you would carry it. Again you would need to look close. It would benefit from a polish. It really is a good basket, 3.5 inches high. 9 inches across 12 inches long all approx. you will not be disappointed.

Very vintage metal bread box with hinged lid. Some of the paint has faded and it has scratch marks and a couple of places where the paint is rubbed off. The inside is clean and I would say quite usable. There is a scent of cloves inside. I found a few cloves inside when I acquired it. The lid closes fine and level. There is little vent holes in a circle on the back. Measures~6 1/4 inches high~length is 13 1/2 inches and it is 9 1/2 inches wide. Payment is expected with in four days at the end of auction.
