Altec hydraulic auger drive motor for digger derrick crane
You are viewing a used hydraulic drive auger motor that I removed in good working order from a Altec brand digger derrick. It was used by a electric company to dig holes for utility poles. It comes with the hoses shown in the photos. It also comes with the mounting bolt you use to attach it to the arm on the digger derrick. But one end of the bolt has bad threads. It had a nut on both ends, we have in the past welded the nut on one end and just slide it in from the other side. That is what this bolt needs if you plan to use it. The output shaft of the drive motor is six sided and is two inches across. This is a single speed motor. If you want to use it on a digger derrick truck that has the optional two speed auger drive. We have used a single speed on them before, you just have to plug off the small third line coming out of the boom that ... moreactivates a two speed auger motor. This drive motor came from an electric company that takes these drive motors and builds a heavier mounting bracket on them. Even on a brand new truck before they ever use it. They do an excellent job and in my opinion are better built than new ones. You can see in the photos that the top of the unit is hex shaped instead of the rounded type they usually are. I have sold several of these in the past to guys that use them on skidloaders. Backhoes, and excavators. They work great for that, you just have to build a mounting plate to attach them to whatever machine you plan to use them on. But it comes with the auger adapter installed in it that converts it to a 2 5/8 square hole. It just bolts into the auger so you can use it or remove it depending on what size kelly bar you use to drive the auger. It has replaceable teeth that look in good condition- see photos.
