Offered is a True Vintage Frank Betz Electric Antique Centrifuge. Based upon the model/serial number. This centrifuge is believed to be circa 1950’s. For display purposes. A glass shelf is not recommended. This device weighs over eight pounds. A cardinal rule with electric antique devices is to not plug them into an outlet. Testing is best done by those with the proper equipment to gradually increase the electric current. This device was not plugged into an outlet. So the condition of the electrical components is unknown. It is offered as is. The body and housing of the unit are in good vintage condition with no holes or splits in the components. There are some surface scuffs and blemishes to the paint. Consistent with that of 50 to 60+ year old antique copper and cast iron wares. Amazingly. Rare Bausch and & Lomb Hand Crank Centrifuge
Late 1800's early 1900's Bausch and Lomb Hand crank centrifuge engine. It is missing the double yoke with receptacles It is a table mount(don't know if there were any other kind) model. The crank works smoothly and drives the spindle at a very high ratio. The housing was probably coated with a brownish finish originally but most of it has flaked off. The face plate has the notation"Bausch& Lomb Optical Co.Rochester NY, New York NY, Chicago. The faceplate appears to be made of nickel plated brass. The crank handle is wood. The information presented above is from my own inspection and research and believed to be accurate but it is only my opinion and I am not an expert.

This is an original and difficult to find vintage NASA photo showing a Centrifuge Gondola. This is the one that used to be at NASA's Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston in Building 29 which was later torn down. Building 29 remains but the floor was torn up and modified to make the first WET-F before Sonny Carter facility was built. The photo was issued April 19. 1966. The photo comes with its original NASA Photo ID number on the front which is NASA-S-66-4090 APR 19. This is a variable speed Ploog extractor that runs great. It's just missing the sample bowl. It has a 7 foot grounded cord. The cover latches nicely and fits great. The mandrel spins smoothly and the bearings feel tight. The knurled nut is included. In one of the last photos the unit is plugged in and running with the light on. The variable speed control works great too. Brake works too. There is a fair amount of brake pad material left on the brake band. And here are all of my findings with this unit powers right up. digital displays looks good and numbers are not faded out.Etc(nice and bright display) lid lock works, and closes and releases the lid.rubber lid gasket in great shape(no cracks,tears.etc) programmable timer works on any length of time entered in to it.power cord is in good shape. Spun the shaft great with no noticeable abnormal noises,etc(spun smoothly) I did notice that I could not enter anymore than 200 x 10 RPM into the unit. I do not know if this is normal for these units or not? I could enter anything from 1-200( 1-2000) RPM's and it starts right up and spins on the low and high settings.With everything I did to it and entered. I never seen the alarm display trigger even once.The plexiglass lid does have some minor stress ... morecracks on the edges of the rim from possibly something heavy have been set on top at some point? see picture#8) but they are purely cosmetic in nature. there are also some paint chips missing on it(picture#5 and#6. It took the rotor speed under 1 minute to reach 3400RPM(on the display) When the rotor speed reached 2300RPM, the top lid began to shake loudly. It took about 15 minutes for the temperature to reach-5°C(on the display) Once the temperature reached-5°C, we opened the lid and the chamber wall had frost.
