Up for auction here is an original antique printers block cut used for letterpress printing. The print is made from a zinc metal faceplate attached to a hardwood block. The block bears an original Newspaper Letterhead reading"AUTOMOTIVE NEWS" It is most likely the letterhead plate for a Detroit small-press publication of the 1940's or'50's. The block measures 1"x 9" inches. By 1"inch thick. The back is blank. Condition is VG- Very Good- There are few defects to mention apart from mild signs of wear from age& use. This plate has general surface rust& white oxidation. The plate is flat& should still print well. Or it can be used for display. I have not attempted it, which could improve condition for printing or display. We have for your viewing and bidding pleasure a collectible enamel porcelain advertising sign. It is gasoline. Automotive and petroleum related. The background is white. On the face of the sign it has FLYING A GASOLINE. Their logo is the center area with an A with outstretched wings going off of it. Around the edge is a red 3/8” border. The sign has 4 mounting holes, one in each corner. The mounting holes have brass inserts or grommets. They have darkened over time. Around each of these grommets the porcelain is fractured. This shows up on the back side also. Where the porcelain has chipped off the metal has rusted. The sign is in good condition but is weathered. There is some soiling on the front with a small area of surface water rust staining under the bottom N. The backside has some light soiling with more larger areas of the surface ... morewater rust staining. The sign is 10” by 10” square. I recently obtained a very large patch collection. A gentleman began collecting patches during the 1960's. He had a son a few years later. And they began collecting patches together during the 1970's through the 1990's. The father passed away in 2001, and the son held onto the patch collection until now. There are many nice patches of all types, especially advertising, in the collection, and I will be listing them on ebay as singles& lots as time permits. This is a mixed lot of 31 different older colorful cloth patches related to cars, products for cars, motorcycles, racing, transportation, gas, oil, etc. They vary in size, one of the larger ones, Getty, measures about 9 1/4" long. Federal Sign & Signal - Titan Model 312 - Automotive Beacon Ray Revolving Light
Please read ENTIRE auction BEFORE bidding or asking questions. You are looking at a USED Federal Sign and Signal Titan Model 312 Series A1 Automotive Beacon Ray Revolving Safety Light. It came off of a 1968 Cadillac Ambulance/Hearse Combination so I can only assume it was made in 1968. I was unable to locate any date codes on the unit. The item is used but in working condition. It has been tested and the light fixture revolves and the one remaining bulb lights up. ONE OF THE BULBS IS MISSING. Replacement bulbs are readily available. I have seen them on eBay. The bulb has markings on the back but I am unable to read all of them. Here is what I can make out: 12V 37.5W Halogen Made In USA. I have no idea if this is the original bulb or not. I don't think they made Halogen bulbs in'68 but I could be wrong. I think it is the same type ... moreof bulb used in Unity Mfg. spot lights like on the sides of police cars. The Amber Globe is very faded from the sun but is not cracked or chipped. It does have a few scratches. It could probably be polished but I'm not sure what to use on it. Please keep in mind. This came off of a 45 year old car. The Chrome Trim Ring that holds the Globe in place is in good shape, just needs a little polishing. I was unable to get the latch closed on the chrome ring. It was in the open position when I got the car. The Aluminum Housing is very corroded up under the globe but can be cleaned up with a wire brush. The part that shows looks pretty nice but could stand to be polished a bit. The vehicle this light came off of was used as an Ambulance and a Hearse. When used for a Hearse. The light was removed. The mounting screws had broken off at some point and someone made a less than desirable repair by drilling new holes next to the broken studs and put bolts through the new holes. One mount area is broken as can be seen in the picture. The unit stayed securely on the roof of the vehicle while I towed it on my trailer from Monroe, Michigan to Marietta, Georgia and then again to Rome, Georgia(a
