Grimmer Schmidt 100/125 compressor Pace Air Control Assembly towable tow behind
This is a completer Pace Air Control assembly that came off my Grimmer Schmidt tow behind air compressor. I've had this compressor for about 4 years now and it was working fine when I bought it but the carb seemed a little weak. However last year is started acting up and I assumed it was the Pace Air assembly because it was having a hard time recharging. At that time I replaced the relief valve 1st but still had the same problem so I ordered a whole new Pace Air unit from Atlas Copco who now owns the rights to Grimmer Schmidt and had it replaced. However it still had problems right after and with in a week or so it was having problems running to. I found that that carb played a big role in the dis-functioning unit as well as it was starving for air from a messed up filter on the inside. So after I had the entire carb rebuilt and filers ... morereplaced. It runs perfect. This led me to believe that there was never anything wrong with the Pace Air or the relief valve before I changed them. So with all that said. I think these are fine but sold as is. I'm not going to put the old one's back on because I can't return the new ones. For your information, Grimmer Schmidt parts are hard to come by since the closing of the shop and most everything is a special order from Atlas Copco and takes time to get. The new parts took about 6 weeks as they had to make them and cost me right around $650.00. Get these(probably good working) parts for way less and fix a unit that is broken. Grimmer Schmidt's are great compressor when they work properly. My model is this Grimmer Schmidt 100@ 125CFM Ford 302 V-8 Gasoline(4 sides are the compressor and 4 are the head) Year: Unknown but I think 1997 because of the serial# I had about 800 working hours on it before I changed the part. yes the hour meter has always worked as indicated from the previous seller) Any other questions please feel free to ask! Selling an Ingersoll-Rand GER-125 ex-Army Corps. of Engineers skid mounted. 125 CFM/100 PSI, gasoline powered air compressor. I bought it from a neighbor last year as a project. Since it has local history. It was acquired by the Naval Weapons Station Concord. CA from the Army sometime in the 1970's. It was then bought by the neighbor I got it from. It sat in his backyard for 20 yrs before I bought it. I have included 2 pictures of its original as-received condition. I removed the hood. Side curtains, battery box, oil cooler, radiator and fuel tank to be inspected, cleaned and re-painted. The engine is a FS-162 Continental L-head. As far as I can tell. It is same as the F-162. The compressor has a total of 338.71 hrs on the tachometer. It had 332 when I received it. I replaced the water pump. Fan belt, radiator hoses, spark plugs/wires. ... moreFuel pump and magneto. I replaced the fuel lines with 1/4" copper and installed a marine grade, spin-on fuel filter. All cooling system and engine block drain cocks have been replaced with brass ball valves. New brass fuel shutoff valve. Compressor oil was changed with new AW32 hydraulic oil(5 gals) I have not re-installed the hood or the rest of the sheet metal. It's stored inside. The engine runs excellent. No smoking, good compression on all cylinders. Generator and regulator are working and charging the batteries. This is a 24V system. I replaced most of the gauges with new equivalents. New T-handle locking throttle cable and choke cable. New starter switch. The air end works fine until it gets hot and then the compressor quits putting out air. I do not know enough about Ingersoll-Rand rotary vane compressors to trouble-shoot the problem. So selling this unit AS-IS, where is. The engine alone is worth what I'm selling the complete unit for. The engine should fit a Lincoln SA200 welder or similar equipment requiring a Continental F-162 engine. Auction includes compressor.
