Vintage Hawaii Souvenir Hand Carved Etched Sail Boat Boy Climbing Coconut Tree Figurine 6 3/4" across x 7" high x 1 1/4" wide*scroll down to see more photos* This model figure is very well made and circa mid-20th century. It features a hand carved boy climbing a coconut palm tree on one of the sails. The back of the boat has a movable rudder. The masts are wired. The ship is made of three pieces of ox or bull horn. A hand carved zig zag design goes all the way around. The sails may be horn but they look like tortoise. They are mottled and transparent and more or a light brown color. One sail is carved with the same matching zig zag pattern. The other has a very detailed green, white and yellow etched scene of a native boy climbing a coconut tree. Great vintage condition with no chips or cracks. There are no marks or signatures ... moreindicating where this figurine was made- it was acquired here in Hawaii but it was likely imported here from somewhere else. I have had other old paper mache plates but never one this size which would be just right to tuck in a old child's cupboard. Up for Auction is some used Klien Gaffs. Linemen's Belt& the belt used to attach to the harness use to climb up the pole. All of the equipment is in good condition and does not show signs of the leather cracking. The linemen belt harness will fit up to a 40 inch waist.
