Though they are probably known more as a meat bird, with the average weight of roosters being 13 pounds and the hens 11 pounds. They are in fact, the largest purebred chicken. However due to their slow growth rate, they are not raised as broilers in the meat industry. They actually lay well for a large breed chicken, laying an average of 180 large brown eggs annually and are persistent layers even in cold weather. The Jersey Giant originated in New Jersey in the late 19th century. The Black Jersey Giants were accepted by the American Poultry Association(APA) in 1992 and Blue become recognized in 2002. Blue results in black. Blue and splash, though splash is still not approved by the APA. Their shanks and toes are black or slate with some willow green except for yellow skin showing on the bottoms of the feet. They are a very friendly chicken and make good pets as the roosters rarely exhibit aggressive behavior. Our flock contains the Jack McCurdy bloodlines and some sired by a show quality Black Jersey Giant rooster we had in 2011. We have also acquired Jersey Giants from Maria Hall and should have chicks and hatching eggs that include her lineage in late 2013 or 2014. This Lanten is 100% original and has only been cleaned up! Pretty stunning for being 90 years old! The hood is Super sharp with all the original nickle No major dents only a couple super tiny dings if you can even call them that. The mica globe looks to be 100% hole free or missing mica. on all panels still very clear and clean for being so old. Only a few cracks and one crack seems to go all ... morethe way through but as you can see i have takes close up photos. over all condition of globe is GREAT with the usual rust on the metal frame. The tank looks just as nice Dont see any dent or bad rust at all! Just the normal wear and tear of a Lantern from this era. All the metals Have been cleaned and polished to a nice shine and i have to say this was a real treat cleaning it up! Just the history along. Had taken me back, just wondering who and where this was use Last! This auction is for one Lantern only! in a few photos it may show 2 Lanterns! That was only to show you its true size next to a red 200a LANTERN. Also This Lantern does NOT come with a hand pump! The Lantern will pump up and does still work as shown in the Last photos. All the valves turn freely and is a Working Lantern! The gas valve dial seems a little loose, and a replacement would be very easy, from any quicklit Lantern if you can not tighten it up? But it still works fine. Since I Lit this Lantern for taking photos I will take it apart and clean it again. But please make up your own mind about this. The crook measures approx 9 1/4 inches(235mm) long with a 5/8 inch(17mm) gap at the neck. It is made from good quality wrought iron throughout. And would have originaly been fixed to a long pole. This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection. First Time for sale 3/30/13 This attractive tin can is quite la r ge and it still has poultry seas oning. Hu ggins and Young Coffee Company was from L.A. CA. It went out of bu siness in 1964 and I could not find out when it started. I re cently bought numerous mostly metal and paper items from the late 18 00's and early 1 900's. I could not find the date of this container but I noticed that the h and y were cleverly formed and I figure it was an ar t deco design fr om the 20's or 30's. The logo is the same upside down. It is quite tal l and heavy and I am not sure how I will ship it but it will be at no extra charge. The container held 1 pound of seasoning and the colors include red. Y ellow. Black and white. The top seems to have a go ld band of pa per tha t cites it is a poultry seasoning as well as the information about ... morethe weight. It is in good basic condition but I never dealt with ti ns so have no idea how to rate them. It certainly is far from immaculate. This is a REAL poultry House lantern. Has all of it's stencil that says as you can see COLEMAN QUICK LITE POULTRY HOUSE LANTERN and then under it" THE HENS THAT LAY ARE THE HENS THAT PAY"If the lantern doesn't say this it isn't a poultry House Lantern but just a Jumbo Lantern.Less then 700 of these Poultry House Lanterns like this were made in 1923 and today they are the holy grail of Coleman lantern collecting. This lantern is freash from being found in an old barn/ chicken house and has not been messed with or cleaned etc Unlike so many desirable lanterns never monkeyed with. I would saay it is in VERY GOOD condition. Large Tank is fine, no holes, dents etc. ... moreGood markings as you can see. Some damage to the mica windo pannels but these can be easly replaced. A small anitique solid silver skewer from France. Plain. Narrow flat tapering blade. Suspension loop at the top. Good used condition. There is a very small bend at the bottom, and scratch marks on the bottom third as would be expected from normal use. It is 7 inches(79mm) long. vintage napiana livestock poultry feed 100 pound size burlap bag. measues approx. 38 inches long and 22 inches wide. it is in good condition with no holes. the reverse side of the bag that has no advertising on it has a small stain. the colors are bright for a bag of this age. thanks for looking!
