WOW. Here is a real piece of American farm and ranch history. This post was pulled out of the ground on my family farm& brushed off. My research shows this post was manufactured by: The Pioneer Post Co. Ft. Atkinson. WIS Patented in May of 1882 Patent# 257.599 to someone named Lucas There is an inscription on the anchor although it is hard to read. It reads: The Pioneer Post Co. Ft. Atkinson. WIS Pat. May 23. 82 This post was in the ground for nearly 100 yrs. It is rusty and pitted. The iron post is 27" long and broken with the top 1/2 missing. The original posts were 54" long. An upper piece of the anchor has broken and is gone. This held the top part of the post more solid to the anchor. All of these are shown in the photos. This post would have been considered the"Cadillac" of posts in it's day as most farmers ... moreand ranchers would have used wooden posts. Please feel free to ask any questions. This came from the Estate of a wonderful couple from Kent NY. Spectacular cast iron set of 2 Horse Head Hitching Posts. These are very heavy coming in at approximately 14Lbs. each. Measuring in at 7" from snout to mane. 5" across straight on and 13" high. The base is round with the outside circumference 4.25" and the inside 3.75" the walls are extremely thick) There is some rust which, in my opinion adds to the patina and beauty. These 4 pieces was cut from cedar fence post that are around 70 years old. Would be great for a rustic table. They are 20" long. Thickness look at pictures. I tried to remove all metal. Before you start to work on them make sure there is no metal. They will have some fresh cuts on them. I used a wire brush to remove most of the loose stuff on weathered sides.

Here are two used semi Gothic style 8 1/2" high fence crowns x 4 3/4" x 4 3/4"base. These two piece are not completely identical except for the base measurements. The other semi Gothic style is 8" high and the square outside base is slightly smaller then the 8 1/2" one. They both have a squared off top point. I have put these together as they are very similar. Vintage Architectural Brass Bronze EAGLE HAWK FALCON Pole or fence post TOPPER
I have a wonderful EAGLE( or hawk or falcon) on globe which is huge and very heavy. It is a vintage piece from an estate. I am not sure of its intended use as it appears to be a flag or pole topper. Weathervane topper, or fence post topper, since it has a 2 piece pipe that fits inside the globe and would slide down on top of a pole. However, it is very heavy and has detachable wings-a feature which I have yet to find on any other figural architectural piece. Made of solid bronze or brass, it is complete and ready to display. It measures 9 1/2 inches long head to tail, 7 1/2 inches from the top of the back to the base of the circle, and has an 11 inch wing span. The ball is round and pierced. The two piece pipe fits into the bottom of the globe and onto a pole. Beautifully made, very unique and impressive, it would make a wonderful decorative ... morepiece inside a home as well. Someone was digging a hole about 25 foot deep in Lower Manhattan. New York City, near the World Trade Center off Fulton Street. I found this in the dirt dug up near the bottom of the hole. I have no idea what it is exactly. Or how old it is. I just figured I would put it on eBay and see if anyone was interested. SOLD AS-IS, AS-FOUND. I do not guarantee age, rarity or anything else.
