I contacted Zareba to get more information on this but this controller is obsolete and they did not have any information on it. I was trying to see if this could be used on small animals but they told me I needed an electric fence tester to get the voltage and send them the information. I do not have an electric fence tester. I did use a analog voltmeter and measure the output voltage. Remarkably high maxed out the meter both ac and dc 250 V plus)Positive on the output and negative in the dirt) I wouldn't use this on small animals. On the front panel a light flashes when the unit is operational. There is also an indicator that comes on when the battery is low.
