Old antique stoneware chicken feeder/waterer. On the rim it says PAT"D April 7, 1885. In the indentation there is a chicken with the word FOUNTAIN underneath it and above the opening for the chicken to feed/drink. It sits on two small legs. It has a few scratches and a small chip on the outside rim but overall it is in nice condition. It measures 6" long and 5 1/4" wide. We ship our pieces double boxed and with insurance. It weighs slightly less than 3 lbs. On the top edge it says"PAT'D APR 7 1885" and underneath is a picture of a chicken and the word"FOUNTAIN" The waterer is in a chocolate colored glaze. There are chips around the top edge and there is a hairline crack on one side that extends about 5" up the side from the bottom. Primitive Galvanized Chicken, Farm Animal Feeder, Dispenser Shabby Repurpose
I know little to nothing about this piece which I think was used in some capacity to feed chickens. Or maybe other small barnyard creatures. If anyone can tell me something about it I would welcome the information. We found it buried in the back of a barn at an estate clean out where it appeared to have been for some time. It measures about 14" tall with a top diameter of about 7" the base measures about 9-1/4" X 10-1/4" and the spout is about 6-1/2" long X 7" wide. There is a long wire bail that is completely rusted and bent. There is a lot of oxidation and surface rust and some dings. Dents and bends. This would make a wonderful planter or piece of garden art. We brushed off the loose dust and dirt but it will most definitely need cleaning if it is to be used indoors. It is being sold with flaws as is. Up for auction a vintage large glass chicken/poultry waterer. The glass jug holds 5 quarts of liquid. I can find no chips. Cracks or signs of use to the glass, nice and clear. The glass jug reads Sana-Fount, The jug screws in a heavy plastic base, the base is also in good shape, with the only damage being some stains. I purchased this at a local farm auction and I do guarantee that it is a vintage item. Please look at all the pictures closely using the zoom feature. The trough was made by BAUSMAN Manufacturing Company in BAUSMAN PA. It is in fair condition with pits from rust that gives it a great old rustic texture. The letters have rusted a some but are still readable. It was painted black years ago and some heavy paper was put on the bottom to prevent it from scratching. There are no cracks or repairs in the cast iron.
