I was the Executive Vice President of the business from 1980 through 1994. These are great pictures for those interested in the process. I do not know where they came from. Nor who took them. They are unique and I have not seen them anywhere else. I think they came from UC Davis Bee Biology facility and may have been taken or commissioned by Harry H. Laidlaw who was one of the founding fathers of insemination of queen honeybees. I attended UC Davis and was a student of Dr. Laidlaw. Uncapping Tub for extracting honey from comb frame, beekeeping, honey bee
Used uncapping tub to prepare frames before extraction. Works great. Cover keeps it clean if you need to come back to the task over a few days. Wooden bar is perfect to rest the edge of the frame while using the hot knife(I have one for sale) to uncap. Or open the cells for the honey to flow. Metal grate does a good job of separating most of the wax from the honey. The bottom tub has a flow gate. Beekeeping Honey Bee Venom Collector
This is one of the first venom collector plates I built back 15- 20 years ago. It worked very well. The collector has been sitting in the barn for quite a while and has lots of dust on it. The plate and cloth need to be very clean just prior to collecting. The cloth should probably be replaced. The cloth is just silk screening cloth. The first picture shows how it sits in front of the hive. The second picture shows the bottom of the board. The third picture shows how the glass plate is removed. You need a 38 volt AC 15 hertz power supply rigged to output about a 30% duty cycle(i.e. on for 18 seconds off for 42 seconds) to power the board. This is not something that you can just buy off the shelf. You will have to build it. HOW IT WORKS When a bee touches two wires at the same time she gets shocked an convulses stinging the glass plate. The ... moreglass plate keeps the stinger from getting stuck in the fine cloth covering. As the bees sting the plate the alarm pheromone attracts more bees to the plate. The collector is put on the hive and activated for 30 to 45 minutes. It can then be moved to another hive to collect more venom. After collecting on the hive the plate is removed and the cloth taken off. The dried venom is scraped off the plate with a razor blade. This is the best grade venom. The cloth is rinsed in distilled water into a glass dish. The water is allowed to evaporate and the venom that was dissolved in the water is scraped off the glass dish with a razor blade. This is a lesser grade venom as it is contaminated with the stuff that was stuck to the bees dirty little feet such as pollen. I am happy to answer any questions the wining bidder has.

Found this old tin and wood beekeeper bee smoker at an IOWA FARM AUCTION. The smoke chamber is leather on the outside and fully intact. The tin canister has a good bit of surface rust but is still solid and has the strainer inside. Appears to have all the metal brackets that came with it originally; top removes easily. It is in decent condition and could be used as a nice display piece with a little cleaning. Any writing that was on the wood bellow has faded away. The air pumps very well and could be used if you’d like. It is 10" tall at the spout. The bellow is 7.5” Tall and 5” wide. Please email with any questions. Selling as is. As pictured with no reserve. 1990 DADANT JR. BENCH HONEY EXTRACTOR 15" X 23" STAINLESS STEEL BEEKEEPING. This honey extractor is used but appears to be in great shape. The pictures show just about all angles of the unit. Its use would be considered very light to barely any at all. It has its original box with receipt from 1990 showing the value back then at 209$. Spinning the handle does cause the inside basket to rotate rapidly. It seems to work fine. There are 2 small bends in the lid but do not hinder its function in anyway. Hello. Doing some pre-spring cleaning, and my extra bee equipment is up for sale. I have a few extra nuc boxs, some painted some not. you may not get the one as pictured. theyre all pretty much the same. all are jointed and screwed. none are rotted or broken. all are 5 frame, w/ split rail. and do not include foundations. they have bottom board, inner cover and top cover, with metal cap. entrances are 1/2 by 3/8 set up like a yankee nuc box.
