Lacy Period Sandwich Glass Beehive & Thistle Oct. Plate
Here is a beautiful and rare antique lacy period plate made by Boston and Sandwich Glass Company in New England from 1830-1850. This wonderful pressed flint glass plate is octagonal shaped and is referred to as"Beehive and Thistle" This pattern was very successful for Boston& Sandwich. And this was the cake plate. The plate measures 1 1/2 inches deep and 9 3/4 inches in diameter from point to point. The decoration is a combination of beehives, bees, stars, shields, scrolls and leaves. The back ground is all stippled. An incredible amount of detailing for the mold from which this plate was pressed. This octagonal plate is in amazing condition, especially considering its age and pre civil war production, being a minimum of 160 years to 180 years old. There are no cracks or large chips, only a little roughness along the scalloped ... moreborder of the plate. This roughness is from 4 scallops on the border having their tips chipped. This damage is hard to see but can be felt. Amazing that is all that is wrong, especially since early flint glass was quite brittle and easy to break. The plate has a wonderful ring when tapped. This is a must have for the lacy period collector. It will be a special piece for your collection! Please buy with confidence. For this item is returnable if not as described. Antique Seth Thomas Beehive Gothic Clock- 48R, Mahogany, Inlay, Porcelain- Works
Offered here is an antique solid mahogany wood classic Gothic beehive shelf mantel lock in excellent working condition by the Seth Thomas Clock Co. of Conn. It chimes every half hour and counts the hours at the the top on a nice sounding coiled gong. It features a#48R key wind 8 day all brass movement. Large porcelain on tin face with brass bezel and beveled convex glass. The wood cabinet features inlaid work o n the front. Sides and b ase and the finish appears to be all original. There are no splits. Dings or missing pieces, just a couple very light marks from usage over the years. The porcelain face is in super clean condition with only one small ding just at the 1 under the brass bezel. The brass is clean and bright around the face and the bezel surround has a nice even patina. The beveled convex glass bezel is clean and undamaged. The ... morependulum is included and there is no key. Measurements are 11 7/8" high x 7 1/8" wide x 4 3/4" deep. The face is 5 1/2" across. I do not service clocks I sell. But indicate the working condition and any other issues to the best of my ability and as such it is being sold as found. Any vintage or antique clock will benefit from a routine service cleaning from time to time and may need some adjustment after shipping. The plants next to the beehive are each set with 2 cut steel beads. One of the larger buttons is missing a cut steel bead from the lower branch. I didn't even notice this until I looked at it with a magnifying glass. The larger buttons measure approx. 1 1/2" across. The smaller ones are 11/16" across. There are no markings on the back. They are in good condition except for the one missing cut steel bead. Also one of the buttons is missing a small piece of brass on the edge. And scratches on the back see ... morephotos. It has been there since the 60’s at least. I figured this light went on a boat. But I was not sure. I searched the internet and could only find clear ones labeled stern light. So I am guessing this is a port light since the globe is red. The globe has no chips or cracks not even around the threads. It has the letters, WC embossed on the top of the globe, which according to my research stands for Wilcox Crittenden, a large boat parts manufacturer. The light measures 5 ¼” tall. The base is 2 ¼” across with three mounting holes. The bulb(1130) was in it when I found it. The socket is in excellent condition with no corrosion, but it does need to be re-wired. ... moreThere are some spots/blemishes on the base, which can be seen in the photos. Antique smaller. 1890's bee hive style cottage parlor clock.carries a brushed metal Gilbert 1807 marked dial with clear numbers and original hands. Case is in good. Vintage condition with some noted age wear and scuffs.some drying to the veneer is noted. The back door or movement cover is missing the bottom small hinge pin(an easy replacement) and we also note that the closure for the door is a bit of a mystery. It has a push closure which works well, but does not seem to actually work on the staple style closure on the interior of the case door.also, the push lever is on the interior of the door. We have shown both for you in Photo 9 and 10. Gold or gilt decorated enhancement on the front of the case is still quite clear and appears complete, but does show expected ... moreage crazing as you can see in Photo 3. Convex glass door dial cover opens and closes well.glass free of chip or crack.please forgive the flash glare in Photo 1. General dust and dander is noted throughout.nothing that will not clean away. Here is a sweet honey server in the shape of a beehive and crowned with a bee. The piece is about 5" high and 5" across the base. It is in very nice condition with just a small place where the glaze is damaged on the rim of the base. The wings of the bee are a little rough around the edges but I am pretty sure that is original. I do not see damage. With the little oval Made in Japan labels on the underside of the base and on the lid. With the sticker still on the lid in the notch for the spoon I do not think the piece was employed at the table. Cute! Butter yellow. From a smoke free home. Offering this magnificant pair of Royal Vienna. Austrian Porcelain Urns from their"Nymphen" motif, done in the 1880's, some by their most noted artist, Feier. These have no signatures on the 4 distinct paintings, but they are exceptional, and obviously done by a master artist. The paintings seem also to represent Greek Gods, but they are not identified. These are each 2 pieces bolted with some minor paint roughness at the connection point. One of the urns has a repaired handle as can be seen in the photos. Hi everybody. This is a vintage 1969 booklet guide on the Beehive House. One of Brigham Young's houses, located in Salt Lake City, Utah. The booklet is 14 pages and measures 6" x 9" Illustrations were done by S. Dilworth Young. The booklet shows some wear, including a small rip through all of the pages near the upper left corner, some creasing and discoloration on the cover, and two inside pages with marks on them. WMF VINTAGE SILVER PLATE TRUMPET POSY / SPILL VASE WITH BEEHIVE MARK TO BASE!
Here we have a very clean and presentable silver plated WMF trumpet vase. Measuring a little over 13 cms tall. With a diameter across the top of 5.5 cms, the piece weighs in at 134 grammes. Unfortunately. I am unable to produce a clear shot of the mark to the base but can guarantee that it is clearly stamped and has the W above the MF within a rectangle, with and arch over the top. As I understand it, this is what is known as the Beehive mark and was used between 1925 and 1965. The piece was purchased at auction in a lot of silver plate. Most of which was Victorian/ Edwardian and without having a great deal of knowledge on this factory, I have to admit that I am struggling to give a truely accurate date and don't wish to merely guess or assume. The cake plate is white porcelain with black trim around the outside edge. A line of black dots with 4 pink roses. In the center of the cake plate has a flower basket design with a beige basket. Pink and yellow roses, small blue and yellow flowers and dark green leaves. The bottom has this marking: DXA OR DXH 2795/1(Impressed) Shield mark or beehive mark(impressed) Dec. 2312(in blue) 15(in blue) Germany(in blue) I have tried to find the maker of this cake plate but I have not found this mark so ... moreI hope that you know the maker because it is a beautiful cake plate. CONDITION: This cake place is in very good condition and would be excellent except I found a few very light knife marks on the top surface. I have taken a close up of them. They are on the pink roses in the center and one right below the flower basket. These are very small and not very noticeable but I wanted to mention them. I also found 2 places on the outer rim that have small chips. I have also taken a close up of these for you to see that they are small and not bad at all. The two“spots” on the the back of the plate are from being fired so they are original and not chips. There are no other chips. Cracks, nicks, crazing or repairs. This is clean and ready to use. Display or give as a gift. MEASUREMENTS: Diameter of top: 11 ¾” Height: 2& 1/8” Diameter of“foot” or base: 6 ½” I'm sorry about the glare and reflections in the photos.
