This auction is for a used Simpson 260 Multimeter DC VTVM(Vacuum Tube Voltmeter) Adapter. Model 651, made in the U.S.A. by the Simpson Electric Company of Chicago, Illinois. Its purpose is to provide a high impedence interface to the multimeter by the use of a miniature vacuum tube(Raytheon 1AG4) The adapter slips into the multimeter plug sockets and is locked into place with a clip at the back. Only the adapter is included in this auction, and batteries are not included. The condition of this item is as follows: The adapter was successfully attached to a Simpson 260 multimeter. However. No electrical tests or measurements were made with it. All panel knobs turn freely. There are some stickers on the case suggesting it belonged to the US Navy(DATC FMAGPAC INVENTORY) in 1978. Some yellow paint-filled letters/numbers are also engraved into ... morethe base and one side. This adapter requires two sets of batteries; a pair of AA-size ones probably for the tube filament. And a larger higher voltage pair for the tube grid. The grid battery sockets and terminals are clean, but the filament battery sockets have suffered some damage from a battery leak(see photo) Two battery terminal insulators are puffy, and there are superficial spots and patches of corrosion on a copper support plate.
