Nice HP/Agilent 54110D 1 GHz Digitizing Oscilloscope 54002A Probe Pods, TESTED!
This powerful oscilloscope has a 1 GHz bandwidth(350 ps rise time. With 10 ps time resolution) and a nice color screen. Has two channels, and two additional exte rnal trigger inputs. It has many useful features. Such as variable/infinite persistence, sophisticated logic triggering modes, lots of automatic measurements, and the ability to display one channel versus the other. It also has a modular input/probe preamplifier scheme that uses plugins for different applications such as high-speed active probes. This one comes with 3 general-purpose 50 ohm input pods. As with all HP instruments, the use/repairs manuals for this can be downloaded free from Agilent or from other websites. I have checked out the functions of the scope pretty extensively. And everything works well. It has not been calibrated for a while but does not seem to be way off ... morefor anything I would use it for. It passes all of its self tests(see photos) The colors came out a bit flat in the photos(the blue trace looks very similar to the gray background grid) but in person they are bright and vibrant. You can customize the colors infinitely for all aspects of the display- could have a white background or something if you want. There are various scratches on the case, a small dent in the front panel below the input pods, and the knob is a replacement. The new knob works well as a replacement. This camera looks to be in excellent shape considering it was made in 1965. Cosmetically it looks well taken care of and it powered up when plugged in controls were responsive. That is as far as I tested it. It has All I know about it is what I found on HP's web site and copied below. It comes with the case and power cable as well. There are a couple labels on the case and one on the camera identifying its original owner. FROM THE MANUFACTURER: Oscilloscope cameras produced permanent records of oscilloscope displays for use in engineering reports or in other situations where pictures of waveforms. It comes with a mouse for easy selection, a 3rd party keyboard(which I never used) a backup disk of what's on the scope in case the HD crashes. It runs windows 98, but I do not suggest that you add it to your sub-net(too many bad guys know the backdoors to windows) You can change the floppy drive out with a USB array or SD card interface. I made a CD Rom recovery disk.Installed OS, cleaned out the dust and re-calibrate the instrument as the batteries had failed erasing everything. The only flaw is I had to mount the laptop drive with cable ties! The drive weighs only 6 ounces so it is very secure but I do suggest once you receive the scope you remove the cover first to verify it hasn't moved before plugging it in. Update I just purchased a HP 1160A probe 500 MHZ probe Sunday October 5th I added three new pictures. One is the self-test. The warning about the actuators is actually an error due to battery failure(see above) The actuator count can be reset. The next picture the calibration screen showing everything OK and the final test shows the sine wave response to a 100MHZ input. Everything is normal.
