I bought the Ridgid 36163 and found the culprit in 15 minutes, a loose 5 inch PVC cleanout cap that would build up gas under pressure and belch a wonderful odor occasionally. This machine is very simple to operate. And rugged. It detects over a dozen noxious combustible gases including Methane. Propane, Butane, Ethanol, Ammonia, Hydrogen. It has a nice beefy bendable gooseneck to get into tight places. Comes with an instructional DVD too, but I was able to operate it within 5 minutes after reading quick start. This is a sensor for some sort of combustible gas sniffer. It is sensitive to propane, butane, gasoline vapor, alcohol vapor, acetone vapor, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide. Internally it is a heater and a resistor that is sensitive to reducing gases or vapors. The sensor takes 5V on the heater for 14 milliseconds followed by a 236 millisecond off time. It is read out once every second or so by a 5v signal applied across the senor element. It would be ok to change the power On time within 10% provided you correct and balance the power dissipation. It is most sensitive to hydrogen and least sensitive to gasoline vapor. This sensor is new old stock. My best guess it it probably was intended to be used in a safety warning meter of some kind. I have lots of lasers and other unique stuff for sale this week.

TIF8800/A Combustible Gas Detector (Ghost Detection?)
I only have a rough idea of what this does but I'm pretty sure it has to do with detecting ghosts. The original owner only had it for a couple years and then was committed to a nursing home. I do not know the man personally and I'm merely selling it to help his family because they have no idea how computers work. Let alone how to set up an eBay account. It appears to be in perfectly working order and has it's rechargeable batteries. I don't know if it came with a charger. I was told original retail is around $250 and my research as verified it's worth. The latches on the case are in impressively good condition considering the style case that it is but it is clearly used with the man's last name on it and what I assume are identification stickers. This is an American Made Product.
