From a state surplus sale. A MultiRae model PGM50-5P multiple gas detector. I did not get anything else with it, you just get the unit you see in the photos. It uses a very common 12v charger, which is the same as those used to power a variety of cbs and other car electronics, which I had for that purpose, so I used that to charge it and power it up. It was last calibrated in 2007, and will need the expendable gas detection cartridges replaced. But it otherwise seemed to check out ok, and I could feel a slight suction on the nozzle when it was turned on. So, I'm selling it as working and if it's not it can be returned for a refund. This is one of those things a guy would buy back in the 1950's and 60's or earlier because guys back then just assumed that they could do things for themselves. And they did, rather than paying someone to do it for them. Back then, there were all kinds of things for fixing everything imagineable. They were cheap to buy and guys figured out how to use them, because that's what guys did. They even built their own electronics and machinery and other things from kits because they could use their ingenuity to save money, which was something people did not have to waste. Anyway. Now all that is gone. There are no longer kits to repair the starter on your car, or to fix a broken motor in your refrigerator. Nobody fixes anything anymore. They just have it replaced and they even pay someone else to do it. Why? The"why" is that ... moremen no longer remember how to figure things out for themselves. They do not have the pride men used to have when they figured out on their own how to do something they had never done before. a thing they did it almost every day! I always admired that about men when I was a boy, and so did every other boy. I guess that is why, my whole life I wanted to learn how to do all those things. I am now in my fifties and I would bet that between myself and my brothers, we could fix, build or fabricate most things that we could ever need, but even still.when I get to talking to guys who are in their eighties, I am astounded at how much more stuff they know how to do than I have done.as yet. Well, I guess I am supposed to be selling something here so enough rambling, but that's what I do when I start thinking about things. I believe this kit is from the 1950's. About ten years ago I bought a large crate at a moving and storage outfit. Which clearly had been stored for a long time. I have not yet found anything in the bunch that is older than the late 50's. 6 MSA Orion G multi gas detector monitor LEL O2 CO2 & flexible probe sensors
You are bidding on 6 very nice(cosmetically) Orion G and Orion Multi Gas Detector Also included with the Orion G are the pumps with adjustable metal. Also included are 3 AA battery packs(batteries not included) Each detecor boots up except for one of the Orion G detectors that just shows 1 red light. These were owned by a Fire Supply company and it appears they used these to take out sensors for other detectors. The one Orion G that only shows a red light does not have any sensors. The rest have at least 2 sensors. I do not have the time or knowledge to flip the sensors back and forth to see if one is completely working. One of the units was calibrated in 2012. Most will work for a small time before the red lights blink and they error out with flashing E10's. E4, blinking O2 line on LCD screen and other stop pumping. The Orion G probes ... morehave a 19" metal adjustable line. You are buying the detectors AS-IS with no warranties and no returns.
