This is a very nice vintage early‘60s“TRIPLETT MODEL 310” volt-ohm meter that was in full working condition several years ago. DC Volts function is still working when tested with a 1.5VDC battery(see photos) But it needs replacement test leads with correct jack-ends and new internal batteries to check full functionality of the instrument. Details: Original test leads got pitched or lost( So a 2 nd set of probes w/o the correct meter-end jacks(see photos) were stripped and inserted into the“Common” VOM” jacks to check operation. VINTAGE 1948 WESTON MODEL 779 TYPE 1A VOM/AMP METER SERIAL# 6361 - STILL WORKS!
This is a very nice vintage July 31. 1948“WESTON MODEL 779 ANALYZER” type 1A volt-ohm-ampere meter that still works(at least to the ability of my testing skills) Tested on low resistance settings(continuity touching probes to each other) and they all work. I don’t have a resistance box. So I can’t test if R readings are calibrated or accurate. OHM-zero-adjust knob works very nicely(see photo with needle at full sweep) Tested on 2.5VDC and 10VDC voltage scales– 1.5VDC batteries give readings that are scaled properly if you assume full sweep is 2.5VDC. But I don’t understand why the lowest voltage scale on the meter face is labeled 5VDC? So. Although I’m fairly confident it’s functioning properly, I can’t guarantee readings are calibrated or accurate. Meter is easy to read and needle sweep is very smooth– nice instrument! Measured the 15V internal ... morebattery(Eveready 411) with a second voltmeter– it barely deflected. I presume this battery is used for the high resistance settings? I have no way to test them. Anyway. Photo is not clear. But the yellow ink-stamp date reads“ Jul 31 1948” Maybe this was the one of the first ~6500 they made? serial number 6361) Shows signs of use and wear as expected for its age. AVO Resistance Range Extension Unit for the Model 8 Universal Avometer Offered for auction is a AVO Model 8 Universal Avometer Resistance Range Unit. This item connects to the lower terminals of the meter and extends the resistance range at the low and high end. The low end range is extended to 0- 25 Ohms. And the high end range is extended to 0- 200 Mega Ohms. The unit requires 1 D size cell for the low range, and 4 of the special Avometer 30V batteries(making 120V) for the high range. As can be seen from the photographs, the unit is nicely made out of wood and paxolin. I would describe this unit as being in a good used condition. There are some scratches and marks on the top panel. Instruction plate and woodwork, and one of the connection strips is slightly bent. Inside everything looks OK, apart from some slight corrosion on the terminals ... morefor the 1.5V battery. I have not tested this unit due to lack of a suitable Avometer, and batteries for the high range, but looking inside there is not much that could go wrong with it. By passing a known current through the meter(and fused) circuits and Second, by testing them in the non-distructive manner(before the meter goes out) as prescribed by Fluke. This second process tests the fuses inside the unit by putting the meter in the ohms function and then placing one end of a probe in the positive jack and the other end in the designated current port. The fuse can safely be tested without ANY chance of blowing the fuse because it uses the meter's own circuit AND VERY small current. VINTAGE EICO #526 AC/DC MULTIMETER
This Eico#526 has a model# plate made of metal. Most of them I have seen are printed on with no tag plate. Also the meter dial is not square. But rounded. My father was using this, I believe in the 50's& 60's and up until the 80's. The AA battery is drained& I don't want to solder in a new one to check it out. It has been stored in a warm dry area. The red lead has a chip in the plastic& is glued. I have included a paper showing the right side values in order top to bottom, ie)1MA, 10MA, etc. You may want the numbers painted back on.
