It warmed up for 10 minutes and we were able to turn on the power supplies! Since we do not have the correct power cable to test the output we had to use the bult in volt meter on the face of the unit. Through the volt meter we checked each incriment of the 500V switch. 100V switch, and 10V switches. The others switches were too fine to notice a difference in the output on the meter. We also tested the units ability to switch polarity, which it did with flying colors. Cosmetically these units look great. No major damages.there are a few scuffs. Some dust, and a few other insignificant markings but none of them will affect the units operability. I just don't have a way to test this. It has been in storage in my parents' estate for a long time. My father was an electrical engineer and Ham Radio guy(Extra Class K5CE) I remember that it was still on his work bench when we closed the house down. So. Lambda 71 high voltage power supply. All voltages tested good, DC volt meter is accurate, DC milliamperes meter is good but was not tested for accuracy, two tubes were replaced to bring this in to operating condition. The main voltage potentiometer operates smooth, the BIAS potentiometer will need replaced, the bias voltage jumps from low to high voltage and the pot appears to have a shorted winding, the pot is marked 20K ohm and is wire wound and possibly 7 watts, I do not have a schematic to verify, I have a good used 25K potentiometer that may work with some minor modification to the layout behind the front panel- no guarantee, the diameter and width of my 25K pot are a bit larger than the original, if the buyer wants it I will include it for free- just ask after purchase. Inside is a bit dusty/dirty- nothing real bad, the front panel ... morelooks good and all controls function except for the aforementioned BIAS pot, the metal cover shows some minor surface rust but no damage, the handle shows wear, this weighs just under 48 pounds and measures 15" by 9" by 13" tall before packaging. This Heathkit IP-17 Regulated High Voltage Power Supply in good working condition. It is a f actory wired unit. Hence the IPW-17 model number tag. Since it was assembled at the Heathkit plant, you can be assured that it was built right and that all solder connections were professionally done by trained technicians. I tested it by applying a load resistor and cranking up the voltage to the maximum at full current(100mA) and letting it run for 10 minutes. It did so with no problem. See the second photo for a demonstration. The Bias and Filament supplies are also working as they should. The cosmetics are pretty good- no scratches to the front panel or either meter. Convenient source of variable regulated high voltage, variable bias voltage, and filament voltage for laboratories and workshops. Separate panel meters are provided for accurate monitoring of the DC output current and voltage. All output binding posts are insulated from the chassis to allow the high(B+) and bias(c- voltages to be used as either negative or positive voltage sources. Separate transformers are used for filament and high voltage supplies so the filament circuit may be left on while switching off the high voltage circuit. This eliminates repeated tube warm-up time. A meter switch permits you to monitor either the high voltage or the bias voltage on ... morethe front panel voltmeter. The special taper C- VOLTS control provides a finer adjustment of low values of bias voltage. Built-in circuit protection prevents damage if the bias voltage output circuit should accidentally be short circuited or overloaded. And the input circuit of the Regulated High Voltage Power Supply is fused for additional protection against overload conditions or short circuits.
