Hewlett Packard Model 5315A Universal Counter - Please read.
This is a very nice HP 5314A Frequency Counter with one issue. It passes all self checks as can be seen in the pictures. When turned on. It displays“8” in all the digits. After about 1 second, it changes to“000” as per the manual. In the“Check” position, it shows 10.0000 Mhz, which tests the 10 Mhz time base oscillator. The problem is that it will NOT count when a signal is applied to the input. This seems to indicate something is wrong in the input circuit. The manual gives trouble shooting information, but I do not have an Oscilloscope capable of testing it. If you have an oscilloscope with at least a 20 Mhz capability(preferably 50 Mhz) and the ability to trouble shoot. This could make a very nice and stable Frequency Counter for you. HP Agilent 5335A 1.3GHz Universal Counter Options 010 030
For auction is a used. Working HP 5335A Universal Counter with Options 010, 030 and HP-IB interface. The unit is in good physical condition other than the corner of one of the push buttons that accidentally touched by a soldering iron. I have replaced the original cooling fan(which is fairly noisy) with a quieter fan in 2009 that works on a lower voltage(12 volts) I built a small voltage regulator board to step down the voltage supplying the original fan and the perf board sits in an unused slots inside the counter. The new fan is much quieter and makes it tolerable to work near it for a long period of time. The new fan hasn't had any problem with the machine overheating. I will include the original fan in this auction(see photo) Option 010 is a high stability(HP 10811) ovenized crystal oscillator and it has been calibrated against an ... more10-MHz GPS-disciplined oscillator(one of the photos show a comparison with another counter(HP 53131A) connected to the same 10MHz source. Except that it may have trouble with very slow signals. We gave it a quick check with our own test equipment and cables(not included) It was able to accurately measure signals to 225MHz on both channels 1 and 2.
