This butt-strap tree saddle has 6” tall foam-filled. Leather-lined back and a leather-lined seat strap for extra support when resting on the saddle. 2 D rings for traditional or split tail climbing, and 2 side D rings for attaching a flipline and adjuster. Belt has 7 grommets for a snugger fit. Comes with five, 15 lb. nylon gear loops and two chrome-brass snaps for keeping tools close at hand. Weighs aprox. 6 lb. If you look closely at the photos. You might notice two small imperfections: They are very minor. However, and overall the item is in excellent condition! 1) The leather ID tag has some wear/scuff marks making it difficult to read(MFG Weaver" it's in the very last photo) 2) There is a small rust spot visible on the inside leather(photo#5) where the saddle came into contact with a piece of rusted iron. I do not know how old they are but they have the following stamped on each of them: MELLING FORGING CO. LANSING MICH. Brooks Patent No. 1956852 Below is a link to the patent that George Brooks filed in 1933. They are certainly used but all the pieces seem to be there. The leather padded shin guards. The leather straps and the metal buckles. The leather is aged and I would be leery using them to climb anything without making sure they are still safe to use. It looks like the iron was painted red at one time. The one upper belt looks like it has either a“06” or a“90” stamped on it. I don’t see any other markings on the item. They measure about 18 inches high and the spikes are about 3 ½ inches long. They may not be a matching ... moreset. The one is about an inch longer than the other and one has three straps to hold the shin guard in place where the other just has two. Please look at all the pictures to evaluate the condition for yourself. You are bidding on what is shown in the pictures. I am sure they can be brought back to life but they would also make great display pieces for that retired lineman or tree climber.
