Offered for sale is this very fine SEAWORTHY BOATS"Flying Yankee" motorboat. These famous American pond boats were designed by MIT trained naval architect Chester Rimmer. I am definitely not experienced with these boats but believe this one was designed in 1926. It measures 20" long including the rudder. The boat is in very good estate condition. The cranks winds up easily and the motor seems to work fine. There are a few surface scratches and some paint loss on the rudder but no damage or repairs found. This stunning pair exhibit the elegant symmetry and proportion of her best work and her superb artistry. Each boat is 10" wide x 7.5" high x 4" deep and weighs 20 troy ounces. Each is hallmarked with her maker's mark(tops as well) and the marks for'Sterling, London, 1783' They are in excellent condition with only the occasional slightest of dimples(see last photo) Overall, remarkably good considering their age. Pr Vintage Chris Craft R/C Model Boats with Extra Accessories, 46' Cruiser+
Up for auction today is this pair of vintage Chris Craft model boats. I will describe the 46' cruiser model first. It measures 26" in lenght by 7" in width. It is set up with a Futaba remote control system that does work. However when I activated the control for forward and reverse the motor hummed but did not spin. I ceased immediatly so as not to burn the motor up. These have been sitting on the shelve in the garage for years and I hope it only needs a little cleaning and lube and maybe work right. It steers fine. The motor is a Deluxe K&O. It has a removable cover but I know nothing about these kit motors and won't mess with it. It is marked Dumas 46' Cruiser on one of the inner top beams. The smaller Chris Craft model only has the Chris Craft decal on the outside of the transom. It is not marked inside. It measures ... more20" in lenght by 7 1/4" in width. It is not set up with a remote control system. It is set up with a NBK motor. It has the wires for connection to batteries but no battery pack hooked to it and I don't know how to check the motor like that. There is a 2 battery pack in with all of the accessories that come with these boats but don't know if that is right one. It steers with the steering wheel. The hulls and covers look to be solid. You will have to do some minor trim repairs such as windows. Maybe a little touch up painting. I won't attempt to describe all of the accessories that come with these boats as I don't know what half of them are for. The names Sterling and Carrera on on a couple of the bags and I believe they are leading names in the hobbyist trade. I am just sending everything that came with these boats from the estate sale and You can sort it out. 1912 US NAVY Real Photo Postcard USS MAINE VICTIMS LEAVE HAVANA CUBA Onto Boats
OUR CARD/PHOTO# 481. CARD/PHOTO RATING: VERY FINE+ near XF. Not postally used. This auction is for one of three(1 of 3) US Navy 1912 real photo or RPPC postcards we currently have listed. Each in a separate auction, showing the last 66 Victims of the Destruction of the Battleship USS Maine, leaving Havana Cuba. This postcard shows a close view of the docks and the loading of the Victims’ Caskets onto the awaiting boats, for transport to the Cruiser USS North Carolina. Very minor-minimal all around wear/rounding(see images) to card front corner points and edges. There appear to be very tiny(approx. 1/32" 1/64" or less) point tip crimps and or scuff traces right at/on the actual tips of the front corner points. HOWEVER, ALL of the FRONT CORNER POINTS and EDGES remain VERY FIRM and SHARP. The postcard BACK(see images) is very clean ... moreoverall and all printed text remains very sharp. BATTLESHIP USS MAINE SHIP'S HISTORY& DESTRUCTION: The first Battleship USS Maine. A second-class armored battleship, was laid down at New York Navy Yard 17 October 1888; launched 18 November 1889, sponsored by Miss Alice Tracy Wilmerding, granddaughter of Secretary of the Navy Benjamin Tracy; and commissioned 17 September 1895, Capt. Arent S. Crowninshield in command. Maine departed New York Navy Yard 5 November 1895 for Newport, R.I. via Gardiner's Bay, N.Y. to fit out 16 to 23 November, and then proceeded on the 25th to Portland, Maine, to visit her namesake. The battlewagon then put to sea on the 29th on trials and inspection, being assigned to the North Atlantic Squadron 16 December, and sailing via Newport to Tompkinsville, N.Y. arriving 23 December. The ship sailed the next day for Fort Monroe, Va. arriving on Christmas Day. She operated out of that place and Newport News through June 1898 and then on the 4th sailed for Key West on a 2-month training cruise, returning to Norfolk 3 August.
