Lot of 5 HUGE Vintage Edmund Scientific Condenser Lenses
First let me say that other then the measured size(in inches) and being made out of real glass by Edmund Scientific I know nothing about these types of lenses. I got these as part of a box lot at a antique auction and other than thoughts of Land of the Giant's sized ants. Olympic disc competitions, finding a new galaxy and maybe bending light, I had no clue. I'm told they are very valuable due to their huge size, used in enlargers and scientific applications, but I really don't know. Likely even some Steam Punk applications. The two largest sizes measures 6" across and weights almost two pounds each(beefy) The Medium two measure 4.5 inches across and the single small one measures 3.5 inches across. This auction is for a HUGE 5 inch diameter by 1 inch thick fused silica mirror manufactured by CVI Laser Corp for Sandia Labs. It is a flat high reflector at 4278 angstroms(428 nm) and I believe it was originally for their high power molecular nitrogen N2+ laser program. Though it will also be perfect for any other laser around 428 nm wavelength. The back of the mirror is frosted. I do not have a spec on the flatness, but given that it was made for Sandia out of 1 inch thick fused silica, it is probably very flat. Large Diffraction Grating by Milton Roy co. 1800g/mm Sinsusoidal blaze. Gold coating on zerodur substrate. Comes with heavy anodized aluminum mount with orange acrylic pivotal dust cover. Unit is not perfect. Hard to photograph the defects but there is a 1/2" long thin scratch and a smudged 1/2 fingerprint on one end. also dust particles. I will not attempt to clean. I don't even breath on these things. Dimensions of grating are: 100mm x 26mm optic face by 16mm thick.Thanks for looking
