For sale: WETZLER extreme duty 3"band clamps. These clamps are fabulous for doing large round. Staved, or even mitered constructions! If you have used the Jorgensen 2"band version(which sell for well over 100 dollars if you can find them) these are much better in every way; smoother-turning threads, bigger rollers, two stabilizing post instead of one and a 3" band capacity! which was the only 3"capacity band clamp made to my knowledge) The large handles provide ample leverage and the cast iron frames are much beefier than any other band clamp. There is simply no comparison between these clamps and other band clamps for the woodworker who wants the very best! Furthermore they are no longer available because WETZLER is no more. Even when they were being made they were pretty rare and much more expensive than the 2" ... moreversion(like twice the price) which I have included a picture of for comparison. I'm selling 3 band clamps and offer them individually(if someone wants to make me an offer for all three I am open to that) I am the first and only owner and I can say with confidence that they have seen light use and are in excellent working order. For sale this set of 4 Wetzler 524's. The clamps have a 5.5 inch clamping depth and 24 3/4" throat opening. Twice the depth of a standard clamp but with very little deflection or bar bending at high pressure.They boast a bar that is 3/8 thick by 1 and 3/4" wide and are the heaviest gauge clamps Wetzler made to my knowlege. These exert a massive amount of clamping pressure with easy to turn tread pitch and hugh clamping pads that both spread the pressure and are copper plated to protect from welding splatter! Wetzler made the best clamps ever in my professional opinion(having been a full time furniture maker for 25 years) and in the opinions of many others too- but sadly these clamps are no longer available and as far as I can tell. Wetzler has not been in business for some time. I am the first and only owner of these fine clamps ... moreand can say with certainty that they have been well taken care of and used lightly. a little history. in the early 1970's my uncle purchased this Oliver vice from an older neighbor who used to own a. bakery. the elderly man had worked in the family owned bakery since the 1930's. early 1940's or so the family relocated the bakery closer to downtown Los Angeles. the building they relocated to had been an old furniture factory that had gone out of business a few years before. the old man had said that there was plenty of large industrial wood working machinery left over. he told my uncle that there were at least 20 heavy duty work tables most with large wood working vises still attached to them. sadly. most of the old machinery got thrown away. fortunately this old Oliver vise is one of the few items that the old man managed to save. i'm not sure how old this vise is but my estimate is 1920's-1940's ... moreera. maybe some vise expert can chime in& let me know. i know it is old! i can't believe how heavy. Clean. Fully functional drill press or mill XY rotary table. Micrometer dials for X and Y and a protractor graduated in degrees for the table. The table is 7" by 7" with slots for t-nuts. The table base is 8" by 8" with multiple slots for hold-downs. NO dabs on the table. Formerly used for woodworking, so there is still a little sawdust on it. Both cross-slide tables are gibbed for precise adjustment. The table screws are tight, with very little backlash. There is a 1/2" hole machined in the center of the table for an alignment dowel or device of your choice. Very nice tool. It will be partially disassembled for packing and shipping in order to minimize ANY possibility of damage. I pack as if it were a"da Vinci" and will include reassembly directions.
