Then I hit the auto tracking Button( shift Peak) and after that the error goes away and the unit looks good. Frequency is right on and so is the power but when you get to about 20 GHz the unit goes unleveled till you turn it down to about-2dbm then it seems oK. But there may be something wrong. Unit seemed to work good from 10MHz-18GHz but the fault light will come on and you have to do Auto tracking cal. again. 1960s Heathkit IT-11 Capacitor Tester Excellent condition
A Heathkit IT-11 Capacitor Tester made in the 1960s in perfect working condition. Also known as the IT-28 which replaced the IT-11 in 1968. They are basically identical testers. Cosmetically in very good condition with no major scratches. Dings, etc on the body of tester. The only defects are the scratches someone intentionally etched onto the silver face of the four knobs(see photo of knobs) It will accurately test all different types of capacitors both electrolytes. And non-electrolytics. It uses a magic eye tube which quickly opens and closes when you reach the correct farad reading. The eye lights up bright green(see photos) when open and on the correct test value, and then quickly closes if you go pass the correct value, it's very sensitive, and gives you a very accurate reading. It next tests for leakage. As you increase the voltage. ... moreThe eye will quickly open and stay open on each increment, if the cap is good. If the eye doesn't open you know it has leakage and is no good. Starting at the lowest voltage on the scale, the eye will quickly open and stay open if the cap is good. It goes up in 50V increments until you reach the voltage rating for the cap. With these two tests. You will quickly know if the cap is good or not. It is very simple to use. Continuing my clearance of testing equipment I never touch is an Eico 322 signal generator. These are nice units and I use a second one in my current radio testing station. I recommend that you use a digital counter with these. As the values do fluctuate over time if you're not up to date with its calibration. Light surface rust on the cabinet but the face plate is in good condition as is the handle and all of the knobs. I've never used the test lead that comes with this unit. So it may, or may not, be good to use. This is a good donor unit for a repair of another, or use it as-is. Check out my other today to see other vintage test equipment.
