HP 5314A Universal Counter with Operating and Service Manual. Power cord, two new BNC cables with insulated alligator clips Disclosure: This unit does not pass self-test as described in the manual. No repairs attempted on this. The case was never opened to determine the problem. Due to lack of testing equipment. No determination was made to discover the problem. Unit powers up as shown in the first photo. But that is as far as it goes. There was never any smoke or smell of burnt electronics. Description: HP frequency counter with two channels input. Serial No. 2036A05794. Options 001 TCXO. Apparently 120 VAC model. Case is in great condition with a few marks and scratches as would get in an electronic lab. Looks like light or careful use and no abuse or being dropped and such. No cracks in the case. It is in excellent condition and comes with the original instruction manual, which is well worn, and four extra disks. The instrument winds and spins easily. There are two short, light scratches on the wide glass that encloses the disk. The viewing glass is clear. The original velvet-lined box shows some wear, particularly on corners and edges. This is an electromechanical pulse counter that counts up to 4 digits. It comes in its original box. It has no documentation. The coil resistance is 1kΩ. It detects pulses at 27vdc. I don’t know what the maximum pulse counting rate is. This counter does not have a reset. There is evidence of solder and flux on the connection points. But not near the wire holes. The counter has a non-zero count. So has evidently been used. I added a few counts in the process of testing it. The box is printed“14-LG Mess. Reg. It is also printed with“12 65. which may be the date code. Cosmetically. This counter is pristine. The front cover slides off and on. The connection points are solder terminals. It will measure from 0.1 Hz to 100 MHz/ 1 GHz. Its special design allows quick measurements of very low frequencies without the need of long gate times. It measures: frequency. Period, time interval, time interval average, ratio and will totalize with start/stop signals. A& B has 1x and 20x attenuators. Trigger level adjust& sensitivity adjustment controls. Gate times are continuously adjustable from 50 ms to 10s. Frequency resolution is 8 digits with exponent displayed. Except for between 0.1-0.14 Hz which has 1 milli-Hz resolution.
