Hobart Handler MIG welder model 6869 similar to a Hobart 140 mig welder
This is an older Hobart Handler 6969 that has been in operation for about 15-20 years. It is currently in non-working order. It recently started giving me problems and was not feeding wire at all. I had a friend troubleshoot and we found that two of the diodes were bad. I replaced the two diodes and the welder worked for another 3 sessions of welding when it stopped feeding wire once again. Rather than continue to try and repair this welder I decided to buy a new one. They don’t make welders like this any longer and this unit has done more that its share of work. This could have some life left in it but I just don’t have the time to continue to invest in this welder. I would prefer a pickup only but will ship this for $68 if you are the winning bidder. This is a vintage Hobart Brothers and Company Welder. Stick Welder. It did work. Before it was covered up to protect it all these years. I assume it still does. It was my husbands Dads welder, so it has been in the family since. Husband does not weld for a living any more. You do not see it like this any more. It may be worth much more to a collector. These are made in the USA and are tried and tested as heavy duty workhorses for your auto restoration shop. I have used these machines for many years to duplicate the spot weld in my mid to late'60's muscle cars and they work flawlessly. I have restored this unit's exterior surfaces as well as adding a brand new 25 Foot cord with new 3 prong plug. I have also replaced the trigger cord with a heavy duty cord that will last many years. You are buying a vintage Miller 320 AB multi-process welder that is ready to go. It includes the welding leads for stick. It*ALSO* includes the foot pedal and air cooled torch for TIG. The machine has had a platform added to hold a cylinder of welding gas and a bracket to hold the welding leads. It is in good working condition. But has not been tested to the limits of it's specifications. I only have it on a 60A circuit and have not needed to weld at full power with it. It is rated for 100A. I have done a small amount of TIG with it. But my skill with TIG needs work. At the time I did not have the foot pedal which made it extremely difficult to do. I have owned this machine for about 6 years and run about 5 pounds of electrodes on it. I bought it as a capable stick machine with the desire to grow into TIG. I am moving soon and will not ... morehave the space(or power) for it in my next house. This machine weighs approximately 900 pounds. I do have a forklift to assist in loading. My preference is local pickup. But I can skid/palletize and load for freight. A skid charge of $75 will apply which covers the time for me to find a pallet, the lumber to block the unit up, and the time to load it and strap it to a skid. Recovered from an old workshop in South Woodstock. Vermont where it was in active use when I bought it. I don't have the ability to test it here(it is wired for 230V) but I expect it to work fine. It has some surface oxidation on the top and various places otherwise. The cables have cracks to the outer jacket near where they plug into the welder and I also saw one near the handle(they were used that way for who knows how long) The power cable has been lengthened as shown.
