Up for sale is a Vintage Rare General Radio Wide-Range Beat Frequency Oscillator 700-A for PARTS and REPAIR. The manufacturing date is listed as December. 1967. There are some stains, scratches, scuffs and wear due to age but overall this item is in decent physical condition. This oscillator is useful for taking selectivity curves on tuned circuits over a wide range of frequencies. For measuring the transmission characteristics of filters, and for testing ... morewide-band systems such as television amplifiers and coaxial cables. The instrument is also an excellent general laboratory oscillator for use as a source for bridge measurements and as a modulator for standard-signal generators. Two high-frequency oscillators. One fixed and the other variable, feed a detector from which the difference frequency is obtained. The detector si followed by a low-pass filter and a two-stage wide-band amplifier. Both oscillator circuits are mounted in a heavy cast-aluminum box to assure uniform heat distribution and practically perfect shielding. Two ranges are provided for by changing the frequencies of both the oscillators by a factor of one hundred. A single switch on the panel changes from one range to the other. Very nice condition. Carry case measures 8.5 by 8.5 by 3.5. The unit lights up when I plug it in. The inside is in great condition and comes with several leads/cables. The outside of the box is a bit dirty around the handle but like I said the inside is clean. i have no idea how to operate it but Like I said it does light up when plugged in and the ceramic bulb holder is clean.
