This is a service for YOUR own scope. You are NOT buying a scope here(read carefully please) I am offering at $600(B-I-N) to repair and recalibrate your Tektronix 2400series scope regardless of what went wrong with it. The $600 flat fee covers any and all natural failures(not abuse. Fender benders, or missing parts) on a 2445A, 2445B, 2465A, 2465B, 2467, or 2467B. Tektronix used to charge a flat $600 or so until the mid 90s(when the the 2400 population was younger& healthier) but quit caring for them. I am not only a price bargain, but also in turnaround time, which here is only 1 day(Tek was/is much slower) At the $600 level, I also replace some parts that may not be dead yet, like the Li battery, but which are getting old, and should be replaced anyway. Guaranty against recurrence of same problem(s) is 180 days. I am offering you a tested good Z-axis U950 IC for any of the 2400series analog scopes like 2465. 2465A, Tek would have charged at least $250 for one of these until the late 1990s, when they quit supplying them. Also, from 1995 on, those Tek supplied labeled"Maxtek" instead of"Tek" proved to be less reliable. I am supplying pre-1995"Tek" The most common symptom of a bad U950 is a blank screen or no intensity control response, but intensity is still adjustable from internal grid bias pot. If you can't get any CRT display with grid bias turned, your U950 is not the problem(or not only problem) Since I have multiple quantity of these. In keeping with the philosophy that you should get according to how much you pay, I shall pick one for you based on its ending price(or your final offer) This cathode ray tube fits all Tektronix 2400series analog scopes(except 2467& 2467B) It also fits 2440, 2432, 2432A, 2430A, and 2430 digitizing scopes, and if you need the 5 wire flatribbon for those, I will add it free if you ask me to. Count on about 30000 hours if you pay or offer $25, about 25000 hours if you pay or offer $50, about 15000 hours if you pay or offer $100, about 8000 hours if you pay or offer $200, about 4000 hours if you pay or offer $400, about 2000 hours if you pay or offer $650, or 100 hours(almost unused) at $1000. I ... morewould not recommend paying less than $100 and going over 15000 hours. While I have seen some of these CRTs working acceptably even at 90000 hours, on average, especially at faster sweep speeds and on low rep rate signals, going over 15000 hours, is a prescription for dim or fuzzy display. At slower sweep speeds(eg: 1mS/cm) and normal rep rate signals(eg: CW 1KHz sine wave) is the only regime where over 15000 hour CRTs can be counted on for acceptable brightness, so keep that in mind before being tempted to pay less than $100. While even the $25 CRT may be a useful diagnostic tool(if you don't have one or if yours is cracked open) if you really want to add youthful display, I recommend offering more to get one with fewer hours. If you need an analogy to better understand the scale of CRT hours think of every hour on a CRT as the equivalent of about 5 miles on a car: so a 20000 hour CRT is like a car with 100000 miles(not much can be expected from it) however a CRT with only 5000 hours is like car with 25000 miles from which continued reliable service can be expected. I am offering you a tested good triggering A1U500 IC for any of the 2400series analog scopes like 2465. 2465A, Tek would have charged at least $250 for one of these until the late 1990s, when they quit supplying them. Also, from 1995 on, those Tek supplied labeled"Maxtek" instead of"Tek" proved to be less reliable. I am supplying pre-1995"Tek" The most common symptom of a bad U500 is a test 05 failure at startup or instability in autolevel or auto triggering(while perhaps still triggering ok in normal or single) Digitizing 2400s(like 2440) also use this IC but designate it A10U150. Here we have up for sale a nice Tektronix 2465b analog oscilloscope. It is in perfect working condition and has all knobs and buttons. The carry handle has been previously removed. The serial number on this one is B016679 and as shown in the pictures has the through hole A5 board and not the problematic smd one. The date code stamped on several components shows June- July'89. This also has the original Tek u800 ic. I have personally replaced ALL electrolytic capacitors in this unit on ALL boards with new high quality Panasonic and Nichicon caps. The trace is bright and clear. As well. It has been recently calibrated by a professional calibration lab. This item is in good used condition with the exception of the coupled VAR knob which has broken off the main Time/Div knob. Other than this there aren't any signs of abuse. The sawtooth wave was not as clear but we were still able to read it. Unfortunatly when we were trying to display the square wave were were unable to see the leading and trailing edges of the waveform. Excellently working Tektronix 2465B 400MHz Portable 4chan Oscilloscope +2 probes
Working fine Tek 2465B. Last calibrated(and maintained) Mar 19th 2014. If you need/want fresher calibration. I can take it to ebay seller'2465b' aka Alex Schonfeld. but you'll have to pay $150 more(for his cal fee) but these scopes rarely drift out of cal in just 1 year. Last cal(a year ago) included replacement of fan, screentop label, under-CRT lightbulbs, some electrolytic caps, and lithium battery which resides inside an NVRAM IC. Will include power cord. Instructions on a CD(not pictured) and 2 Tek 100MHz 10:1 probes with readout encoding(shown in third photo) a P6105 and a P6109B(faster probes can be found on ebay, but even 400MHz probes won't show more than 100MHz nicely unless 6" alligator grounding path is shortened. Best fidelity is obtained when a 50ohm source is driving CH 1 and/or 2 inputs) thru a 50 ohm ... morecable and the scope's 50 ohm termination(s) engage. Scope runs on 115 or 230 volts. Cosmetics are all around excellent. This is a 400MHz analog scope. Probably the best portable analog model ever made. Step response time of just 1 nanosecond in second picture is consistent with its advertized performance spec. Serial# is B062136. Tektronix 2465B 400MHz 4 channel Analog Scope
Tek 2465B powers up with Test 04 Fail 02(see pictures) which seems to indicate a calibration failure. It's possible the lithium battery needs to be replaced and then the scope needs a complete calibration. I found the following info. Before calibration. I was getting an ERROR 04 02 message at powerup, signifiying that one or more stored calibration constants was out of spec. Using a time mark and calibration generator. I stepped throught CAL 01(horizontal calibration) and CAL 02(vertical calibration) At a few of the steps. I got a LIMIT error, and had to back up a step and redo it. After I finished. I powered up the scope but still got the ERROR 04 02 message. I redid the entire calibration. But still couldn't get rid of the error message. Also. The display showed a row of dots along the bottom line of the readout. Where spaces were ... moresupposed to be. WHen I moved the calibration jumper back to its normal position. The dots turned into question marks. Here's what I learned. The service manual doesn't say this. But none of the calibration constants are stored until the entire calibration routine(e.g. CAL 01, CAL 02, etc. is completed and exited. In other words. If only some of the steps are completed and then the user exits the calibration routine. None of the new constants are saved. Second. If a LIMIT error is encountered somewhere during the calibration. Then the new constants won't be stored. The only solution is to exit the routine and start over. Finallly(and this is what was causing my problem) There are three undocumented steps in the CAL 01 procedure. The service manual shows 31 steps for CAL 01. But the 2465B actually has 34 steps. After completeing the 31 steps. It is necessary to advance through 32, 33, and 34. And then let the scope exit the routine by itself. If you don't do this. None of the calibration constants will be stored. After completing the entire calibration in this way. The dots and question marks disappeared. As did the startup error message, and all is as it should
