The Tektronix 453 is a portable 50MHz dual-trace oscilloscope and produced until the mid-1970's. Initial versions had Nuvistor tubes in the front end as cathode-follower voltage buffers. Later versions used FETs for the same purpose. The vertical amplifier that drives the CRT deflection plates is a cascoded differential amplifier made of NPN transistors. Triggering uses. With a trigger preamplifier preceding the actual trigger circuit. The 453 is almost entirely solid-state, even in its first version. The front cover doesn't attach properly due to one of the lower lock tab being broken. There are two probes included that store in the front cover. When testing the various knobs, the level button causes sporadic dim display about the half-way mark but restores on both sides through-out the full range of the knob. Here is the Tektronix 422 dual channel 15 MHz analog oscilloscope as located at a local sale and confirmed to be in fine working condition. While it's been about 50 years since my last use of these. My testing convinces me that it works fine. The photos show use of the two probes, a P6105 and a P-6106 probe, each 10X, 10 megohm and each hooked to the 2 volt calibration port. Sweep, trigger, positioning, and voltage ranges work as expected. The display focus, astigmatism, and scale illumination work, and the intensity has great range suggesting a CRT with lots of remaining life. The case has seen a lot of life. But the handle is strong and the case has no corrosion or dents, but an old sticker is on the top, and generally all is in need of a cleanup. The front storage compartment has lost its cushioning but is still useful and contains, ... morein addition to the two probes, a P-6028 probe and a few additional items. A Google search turned up the a manual.pdf available at no cost. I'll pass along the link to the winner. This is a fine analog scope. Still useful for many applications. I bought this scope new and used it in my automotive shop environment. It is used and shows some signs of wear. The screen has some normal usage scratches. All of the functions work as they are supposed to at least they did when I last used them. The buttons show hardly any wear. This scope worked flawlessly during the time it was in service for me. I cannot guarantee that there are no problems but I do not believe there is anything wrong with this scope besides those things mentioned below. This is an awesome scope, if I still needed a 2 channel O-scope I would be keeping it! Included- Fluke 97 2 channel Oscilloscope and shock resistant case. It was treated as a respected piece of test equipment and the few cosmetic imperfections are very minor. This scope was professionally calibrated some years ago and has seen light use since. This unit is in good used conditions with just some light scuffs and scratches. We do not have the ability to fully test the unit. The channel two connection had a red circle around it but I did get a signal from it. The unit passed its self test and all of the knobs are working. One of the buttons is missing under the display screen. But it can be selected with a small pointy object(pen, paper clip, etc) I am confident that this oscilloscope will need to be calibrated as the calibration seals have been compromised.
