This is a resonator/crystal assembly for a 946nm Yag laser. The intra-cavity flux is available making it useful for Raman spectroscopy and such. It has the YVO4 optical crystals and the OC mirror. It needs to be pumped with a few watts to work. It makes about 50mw or so of output with 3 watts in. As a blue laser with an added LBO it will make over 150mw of blue light. It comes on a nifty TEC cooled mounting with a thermistor feedback. If you need this odd wavelength YVO4 DPSS laser. This is what you want. Air cooled Argon Ion Laser 5-30mW Uniphase
I have had this laser for about 10 years. And have probably had it on for less than 3 hours all together. Everything works the way it is supposed to. Laser comes on after 30 sec or so. Key interlock. Intensity adjust from 5 to 30mW(I measured with a power meter) I still do a lot of photonics, but this guy deserves to see more use than I can give it. From the label on the side of the cover I can tell it was manufactured by JDS Uniphase in May of 2000, and it appears to be a solid-state diode-pumped laser of some sort. There is a model number on the side(NU-1/520-000) along with a serial number, 000087. In black marker, on the side of the outer cover, someone has written'IR ONLY' Oddly, I have another, almost identical in all respects including model number, but the outer cover is marked'UV' Please check it out as well. There is a seal(present) between the upper and lower housings but only two of the Allen cap screws are present. It appears that at one time there may also have been an inner ... morecover(there is a grommet on the lead set from the DB-15 connector on the bottom part of the housing that is positioned at the edge of the central plate with all the optics. But I cannot see how this inner cover would have been attached, if it was present) The inner optics carrier plate has a label with the identification'NU 000102' printed upon it. Everything on the optics plate appears to be intact and undisturbed. Please see the last photo for the configuration of the optics. The condition appears to be excellent except for the missing screws(easily replaced) The window on the outer cover exit port is without blemish. This is a healthy 12 mW single frequency 532 nm laser. I have seen 30 mW when the laser is warming up and the set point is 12 mW so the laser should last a good long time. The power supply is included. Just plug and lase! Warm-up time is about 5 minutes. This laser is perfect for home holography of small objects and has no cooling fan or vibration in operation. It runs cool and quiet. The bean has ~7 mR divergence but this may easily be collimated with a lens. There are two weak satellite spots; this is normal for these lasers and they are off axis and easy to block with an apature. These lasers are over $5K new today. Because there is only one longitudinal mode and the power is light regulated the optical noise is very low.hard to measure. The coherence length is long. Many meters.
