Cleaning wont be hard, notice the"clean" spot where I took photo of hallmark.all I did was wipe it off with a wet, soapy rag and rinsed so I could show makers info, but you might want to give it a polishing if you want it to shine real bright. Otherwise there are no dents or other problems. Web suspension unusable, is dry rotted and mice/rodents of some type have gnawed the leather band. Attached to webbibg was a Contractors ID badge in good condition seen in last 2 photos. Badge is included. This"Early" hat dates back to as early as the 1940s. This hat was picked at a Central West Vir5ginia Estate sale. I found it hanging in the barn. I was told the old Gent that had owned it had worked in the oil fields ... moreearly on in WV and had also tended wells for PENNZOIL Oil Co. later in life. He was in his 90s when he passed. VINTAGE B. F. MCDONALD ALUMINUM HARD HAT AND LUNCH BOX, RAT ROD, HOT ROD
Here we have a cool pair of vintage construction items. A vintage aluminum B.F. McDonald hard hat(no inner liner) I polished the aluminum to make it look like chrome. There is one tiny little dent from use. But this hard hat is old. Also included is a vintage aluminum lunch box. I have no idea who made it because there is no name on it. I polished the aluminum to make it look like chrome. The original handle was mussing. So I made a handle out of a piece of bicycle chain. I added a little pinstriping to the front with one shot lettering enamel, and I added an old rat fink pin to the front. There is no thermos, there are a few minor dents from use. The hinges and latches are all in working condition. These belong in the bed of a rat rod truck.

Vintage Aluminum B.F. McDonald Hard Hat. On the front inside of the hat brim is stamped Patent B.F. McDonald Co. Los Angeles. Under the Angeles is the letter L. At the opposite end of the hat is stamped on the inside brim. U.S. PATENTS 2,177,145 2,248,366 2,415,214 D118,432. The original leather liner has the word“McDonald” stamped into it and is attached to canvas liner by 2 of the 5 supports. The canvas liner is all intact, in good condition for its age. Attached to the canvas liner is a union pin which reads“Const& Genl Laborers Local 19 May- Jun 62 185 Sacramento, Calif” As you can see from pictures the has does have some flaws which can be seen clearly in all 12 pictures.
