And they did, rather than paying someone to do it for them. Back then, there were all kinds of things for fixing everything imagineable. They were cheap to buy and guys figured out how to use them, because that's what guys did. They even built their own electronics and machinery and other things from kits because they could use their ingenuity to save money, which was something people did not have to waste. Anyway. Now all that is gone. There are no longer kits to repair the starter on your car, or to fix a broken motor in your refrigerator. Nobody fixes anything anymore. They do not have the pride men used to have when they figured out on their own how to do something they had never done before. a thing they did it almost every day! It says on the display Auto Calibration Failure. The Unit responds to all controls and is otherwise in good shape. There are some scratches and blemishes due to use.
