Vintage student flute in box-1980's King musical instruments
This is an older flute made in the USA by King and was carried for years by an old friend of mine. It somehow came to me and I know little about it. Case is here and all original with sturdy handle. Felt is red and has some marking in some spots due to age and wear. All pieces of flute are here also. When tested and put together had nice tone. I am sure it could use a cleaning but I am not by any means a music expert and leave it to the person who knows about such things. This item is a rare chromalin proof from Walsall Security Printers archives of one of the values from Tonga 1993 King's Birthday set. THE DESIGN shows the King with music instruments. The King has always had a great love of music. Chromalin proofs were done by Walsall Security Printers on thick card and in full colour. A proofing method used by Walsall Security Printers in which full color proofs are produced directly from the color separations prior to final production of the printing plates. Each color is layered on top of the next thus building up to the full color design. It is at this stage that any final color change and occasionally design adjustment is made. As only 4 or 5 were done. Chromalin proofs are scarce due to the very small number done.
