This is a stack of three Hewlett Packard test instruments that my consignor used in his radio station maintenance until his recent retirement. All three pieces work fine and look good. Included in the stack are: 8655A Synchronizer/Counter. 8654B Signal Generator 10-520 MHz, and 11710B Down Converter. I didn't photograph it, but there's a service jig circuit board extender for alignment of the 11710. If additional manuals turn up, I'll revise the listing to reflect that fact. The owner tell me: On the HP. The down converter provides and external frequency reference for the counter/synchronizer ... moreso the down converter's LO will cancel out drift error. The Counter/Synchronizer permits you to frequency lock the analog RF generator to a frequency so it won't drift. The RF spectral output should be fairly pure, low in harmonics, or at least lower than a synthesized RF generator. What it won't have is good phase noise performance. I'd prefer not to break this up and sell it piecemeal. But if you are prepared to make a serious offer for one or two of the 3 pieces and don't need the rest, feel free to contact me about it.
