It is kind of complex in construction so I can only assume it was designed for a very specific application. Possibly just as a 50 ohm standard. It is in top physical condition and that makes me believe it is good working order though I really have no idea how this was used. It might well have been part of a laboratory calibration package. This is part of an an HP 85050B standard 7 mm calibration kit. This is a current model http:www.home.agilent.com/en/pd-1000002013%3Aepsg%3Apro-pn-85050B/standard-mechanical-calibration-kit-dc-to-18-ghz-7-mm selling for $10.215 in the USA. This is a much more accurate kit than the 11866A. As the open is not just a hole in the 11866A. The sliding loads give a much better return loss than is possible with any fixed load. You can't even get any official figures from Agilent for that old kit. It is better than the"economy" 85050D. Although users might think the precision 85050C is better, note that is only for TRL calibration. The 85050C lacks the sliding load, so is less accurate for SOLT than the 85050B. The coefficients for the kit are likely to be in any modern or semi-modern VNA. If not. But it would work with an 8753, as one would just need to program the coefficients, into the USER defined kit.
