This is a good instrument to diagnose electrical circuit/ experiment problems or to locate a bad component in an amplifier. For example in an amplifier circuit you can look at the input and work backwards from the output to see where the fault lies. I purchased this with a bad screen and installed a crt and driver pcb out of a tds 520. Passes selftest and everything seems to work properly. This is the first tds scope I've ever worked on and don't have a manual. Although I look at a comparable manual online. Passes selftest and I tried to compensate the probes I used and channel 2 is offset by a very slight amount. see the pictures of the traces.

It comes with a mouse for easy selection, a 3rd party keyboard(which I never used) a backup disk of what's on the scope in case the HD crashes. It runs windows 98, but I do not suggest that you add it to your sub-net(too many bad guys know the backdoors to windows) You can change the floppy drive out with a USB array or SD card interface.
